Where did everyone go to for tint?

--I'm thinking of going to Special-T tinting. They come highly recommended from friends and family.

Can everyone post who did their tinted and what did you get?

I was interested in Ceramic tint but I was told it was only 3% cooler than standard tint. Does anyone else know about it? Ceramic tint costs about $500 for our cars so if it holds no other benefit I'm thinking I'm gonna pass. Please let me know if it IS worth the extra duckets. Thanks one and all.

i went to AL's, it's in pearl city. i like them because the are hand cut and mine is flush to the edge, they also work in a dust free room.... and it's been four years, no defects. my friend had his done at T&T, they use a computer plotter to trim it so you'll see a 1/8 trim. i pass by their shop everyday and noticed that they work on cars exposed to the traffic (it's dusty). and lastly, i noticed that they apply their logo in your tint (for proof of purchase)....i'm not knocking on T&T.... i just didn't care for their end product.

i went with tnt cause i'm a returning customer which is worth like 15-20% discount i believe, in addition to any other discounts you can get. my total cost was ~$160 for the "premier" 35% tint, which is kinda middle of the road in terms of darkness and reflective. pretty much a deal at least for tnt prices, but remember i'm a returning within the same year customer, as i had done my previous cvt mc only 6-7 months earlier.

the one gripe i have is that the edges don't stay flush with the glass, especially where the windows have those micro dark dots, where the transition between the dark edges and the clear glass occurs. i did bring it up with tnt, but they said that that's natural and not to worry about it. if it does continue to roll up the rest of the tint, it's covered under warranty. i've heard if i was really ****, i could hand-remove each of those dots, then the tint would stay perfectly flussh at the edges.

if you should decide to go with a clear bra, or crystal shield as tnt calls their product, you may as well go with tnt for the two. i would guess you'd get a fair discount for the two jobs on one car.

border line around tint...

--Hey Louis does Al's tint cover up the window past the little dots? Just wondering because I think Special-T and T&T only go up to just before the dots so there is a line between the tint and the dots. I've been told it's not that noticeable, but I was wondering if you guys noticed? Let me know. Thanks everyone.

I have a 20% discount for T&T...but after reading this thread, I don't wanna take my new mini there now.... due to the 1/8" gap and the whole "dots" issue.....
Any more evaluation of T&T for tinting by anyone here???

since what happened to my MCS, i'll be retinting my doors. als quoted me 100 bucks for the door (to match what i had). but if i was to strip it and retint to the better stuff...it's about 360 (i guess 20 bucks to strip the old tint)...still thinking on what to do..

I've tried Darren's glass tinting 671-1176 in waipahu.
For a MINI he charges $150 for smoke tint and $170 for Titanium tint 35%.
$35 more for sunroof tint down to 5% limo tint or anything you want.
He has only Lumar tints, no ceramic tints.
He does a very good job and tint is lifetime warrantied.

Just got my tint done by T&T... the internet quote was $199 for the semi metallic (3 to choose from)....$270 for ceramic & like $149 for basic smoke tint...they did an excellent job..... got it there at 8:30 and was done at 10am... the only gripe is the door casing for the H/K speakers where put on half a$$.... just needed a good push to set them.... no worries now...
