DSM in the house!!!

--Hey Dirk, sorry for not pm'ing you back that WAS my friend at superlap. Kevin Flanders. Oh yeah DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors. All the cars that Mitsubishi, Dodge, and Eagle produced together such as the Eclipses and Stealth. I think there are a few other cars too, but I'm not sure. They've morphed into the Rapid Transit forum now because a lot of them are picking up cars like the ION Redline or WRX. Yep for sure, I'll bring you guys some grub or something next time, but I don't think I'll race till next season.

Pyratio - you runnin'?

I think Eastsidemini is going to miss this one - he's got even more new bits to break-in!

Blone-lone-star was saying he was going but I think he had some technical difficulties - not sure now.

Bgrpph and I will definitely be there! Bgrpph is one of the 2005 Championship hopefuls - let's cheer him on!

Dec. 17th

Another great day at Super Lap! Wasn't hot, new fellow MINI tracker, my best time ever, announcement of the Ltd. FWD Champ for 2005 - what more could we ask for?

It was nice and cool today! A nice breeze and most importantly, no bad bugs!

Blown-lone-star showed-up as he said. He went out for a ride with bgrpph and was shown the correct lines. He came back like this > As he was waiting for Group B to start, he was really quiet and looked very pale (bit nervous I think). His first attempt out wasn't too bad but his lines were not clean and he had to clean-up his braking points. When he came in and we tried to give him some hints/tips and he utilized ALL of them and we could see an improvement in how clean he was driving. As the day went on he got better and better and by the time Time Attack came along, B-L-S threw down a 43.6 (correct me if I have the wrong time)!

I think bgrpph recorded his best time to date, 41.13 (once again, correct me if I have the wrong time). I also had my best time, 42.23. Pyratio was there with his DSM gang, and I bet he was impressed with Blown-lone-star's time. B-L-S alone is giving the whole DSM gang a run for their money. We'll have to have a NAM -vs- DSM contest at Super Lap - pyratio hurry-up and get your first run in so we can form our team!

The day ended-up with announcement of last month and this month's winners - the winner's were given medals for their victories. The champions for the 2005 season were also announced. Our own bgrpph was named the Ltd. FWD Super Lap Champion for 2005 - congrats Barry! Bgrpph was the Ltd. FWD Super Lap Champion for 2004 too! "Three-peat - three-peat - three-peat!"............"oh wait, maybe no more track next year!"

Has anyone heard anything more on the track closure? I aksed the SCCA folks and they didn't seem to know...tried e-mailing the HRP people directly and (no suprise) didn't get a reply.

I'm just bummed - I'm going to get my Mini back on the road all spiffed up and in new paint and the track is going to shut down

Thank you for the kind words Dirk. Thank you for the knowledge and the ride Barry. I had a great time, and because of you two i learned alot about putting my MINI on the track. Congrats to Barry for taking it all this year I was nervous as could be just as described by the earlier post, by Dakinemini. I really did feel like this . Things got better every heat with your knowledge.

and a real fast message to those of you who are thinking about superlap, or think its dangerous.............There is flagsman for any sense of trouble, every one there is willing to help, MINI or not. They keep the conditions as safe as possible and i felt comfortable the whole time. No one made you feel like you have to push past your abilities(just dont ride with barry the first time and expect to do what he does ). It was safe and a great atmosphere to have fun. everyone needs to join in that can make it..........next time is January 27th if im not mistaken.

Thanks once again to Barry and Dirk, I had a blast. see you guys soon.

I think the next Super Lap is on January 28th. Did cwlouis just say he was going to be there?

Casey, well said, I too think that Super Lap is well run and safe for the participants; in fact, I would say that it is as safe, maybe even safer than the SCCT because of the unfortunate fact that by the time SCCT guys hit the track, no one cares and just wants to go home (though the track marshalls are still there).

"lets get together and form a group to go up tantlus some time."

Please be careful doin' that. The residents up there are constantly on the lookout, and the last thing the Mini community needs is to be "featured" on the news because one or more Minis were being driven too fast around houses.

Huuuahh Team MINI!!!

--It was great to see all three of the MINI's from HMMC racing last weekend. I was out there for support crew for the DSM/Rapid TranXit Teams. I had the pleasure of sitting shotgun in my buddy Kevin's ION Redline. We turned a few laps and got stuck behind a G35 and a Miata, but once we passed them we had Casey on our medium range sights. But once BLS got past the last second gear turn he was GONE! I was like "where'd he go?!" My driver was like, "where'd WHO go!!??" After that I spoke to BLS and he'd let me know that he'd found his groove out there and was really feeling the track good. I believe him he was turnin some quick lap times.

Later in the day we got to see Barry tear it up good hitting 41.1 laptop times! AWESOME! Just for comparison the Lotus Elise's have only turned in 41.8 lap times at best.

I can't wait to turn a few laps myself but after BLS's smoking brakes incident I think I'll have to change my brake fluid before I even think about hitting the track. I'll probably be up and running for the February race tho, as I'm heading a team of techies to hit Japan and Sinapore in January so I'll miss the first one of the year...

But yeah I think everyone who doesn't have anything going on during the race days should come on down to check it out. Pop a helmet on and ride shotgun with one of our TEAM HMMC guys and see if you could dig racing your MINI. It's $10 per person to crew or spectate and everyone is really friendly and helpful at the track. If you like motorsports racing at all you'll really like superlap as it's a fun and safe way to get into racing your MINI. BLS was telling me he learned a lot about himself and his MINI after running in this past race.

Dec. 17th Results

Blown-lone-star, contact Mike K. @ info@superlapseries.com to get your time corrected/listed. They don't show your time/name but your photo is there . Some kind of confusion because your number is assigned to some other guy's name - anyway contact Mike K. and get it fixed.

There's a great write-up about bgrpph's consistent performance during the 2005 season to capture the Ltd. FWD title again! Congrats again Barry! See you at the Jan. 7th SLS Awards Banquet!

Blown-lone-star, I worked with Mike K. to get your results entered. Mike did some investigation and found you were mistakingly assigned another guy's number so you are now #51F. Hey, you got 1 point for placing 6th! Check it out!

test

hey thanks for the info Dakine. I checked it out and was impressed myself. I do have a concern i would like your help and Barry's help on. about a week after the track day, my ABS light came on, which also made other warning lights come on. it comes on periodically, and i dont hear any brake noises. I thought it was tire pressure but that didnt correct the problem. i dont think its truly mechanical cause the light would be on constantly. most of the time if the light isnt already on when i start the car then after a couple of bumps on the road it comes on. do you think its some kind of a sensor????

Casey,

Hmmmmm, I wonder if a chunk of tire rubber or something is stuck somewhere? Or maybe the sensor is loose? We can take it apart and see what's going on. Barry has the code reader/eraser so maybe he can look at it from that angle too.
