Dyno day anyone?

One of our BMWCCH members has offered to host a dyno day at Hypersports. Cost is $60 for 3 pulls. If there are more than 10 cars, it is $50 for the three pulls. For an additional $10, one can also get an accurate air/fuel reading with our wideband oxygen sensor.

Date and time To Be Determined.

So who's interested?

This "BMWCCH member" happens to be the fastest guy in the Limited Front Drive category at Super Lap right now!

It should be noted that Hypersport needs a two week advance notice to schedule. If the NAM folks can't fit the schedule the BimmerForums folks come up with , we can set-up our own date. Just have to keep in mind we need a minimum of five people for the deal (normal price is $90) and if we have more than ten people we get the better deal.

He says Saturdays is best for him but also said "Any Saturday will work for me, so long as there is not a Super Lap event on that day." Gotta love this attitude.

I'm "in" but would probably rather go all-MINI since it seems some at CCH are not too keen about MINIs and their presence at BMW functions.

The_beastmaster - sorry to sort of thread-jack. Just trying to keep it more flexible for us.

Now who said that? It wasn't me. This is more of a Bimmerforums event v.s. CCH event. Even at CCH events, MINIs are welcome as they are members of CCA. I think everyone can get along, if they don't I'm gonna have to call some friends from Ewa Beach to regulate.

I do know what you are alluding to, but that comment is taken out of context.

Hey, I never said it was you. Sorry if it seemed like I implied that.

Maybe it's just me but I get "that" feeling. I think you know what I mean though.

I agree though, it'd be great if we were more involved with CCH things but I don't see it really happening; hence, I let my CCA membership expire as of 2/15.

Anyways, either way would be OK but I think we'd benefit more if it was an all-MINI dyno event.

Bry sorry if my reply made you angry - didn't mean too.

Edit : P.S. - The_beastmaster thanks for the call. Peace.

Me angry at a friend? Nah. If I was angry, people would know it.

I've been BMCCCH member for long long while- had an M5 back in '94. I've only begun participating in BMWCCH track events in last 2 yrs since since i've owned my MINI. I've always felt welcome by everyone in the club & never felt anything other than friendship & interest in our BMWs & MINIs.
All MINI owners who are interested in Super Lap or SCCA should be members of BMWCCH. Their events are more driving oriented. I've always enjoyed the track events, learned a lot with different instructors, & had a great time with everyone regardless of what car they drove.
I may be interested in dyno (not sure why though)

Barry - I'd sign up for the wide band O2 sensor monitoring. That way you can see if your car is running lean with the pulley and no software upgrade. If it is running within parameters, your car should be pretty safe w/o the upgrade.

Btw, thanks for the kind words.

Dyno day is set for April 2 at Hypersports. If the MINIs want to set up their own dyno day, go for it. Just remember you need at least 5 cars and you have to get in touch with Reid.

If you want in on the Dyno day, check this thread at Bimerforums. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=324541 Of course, BFC and CCH members do get priority over non-members.

i'm interested highly. basically, because i have the unichip and since getting it, i've done the jcw upgrade. i believe the main advantage of it is that it's supposed to be customizable for your mods. so i'd like to get it specifically tuned for my updated mini. and so far, i don't know of anybody else on nam who's done one for their updated jcw + some other stuff.

i'm gonna hafta call randy webb to get the specifics for this.

but count me in.

Kyle - Don't forget you have the 2:30 slot.

Andrew - You have the 4:45 slot.

Be there @ 30 minutes before your appointment in case we are running ahead of schedule!

Hypersports is located at 721 Auahi Street, Honolulu, HI 96813 http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=mokqoup_0To3GN9fVsCufPD6_7ormrFssg--&csz=honolulu%2C+hi+96813&country=us&new=1&name=&q ty==

LAST CALL! The dyno day is set for tomorrow and it looks like we may be able to push the schedule and accomodate more cars. I put aside 45 minutes to dyno the cars and Reid says it should take about 30 minutes!

Looking at the schedule, we might start to have open slots @ 11:30 or so. So if anyone wants to come down and try and snag a spot, feel free.

With the amount of people signed up (10+), dyno runs will be $50 for 3 pulls and $10 more if you want the wideband O2 monitoring.

For those that have appointments, be there at least 30 minutes early!

It was a long day and we dyno'd all but one car. The SMG M3 just didn't want to be dynoed! The car ran fine, but once strapped down, it refused to engage in any gear. When unstrapped, the car went into gear with no problem. Damned electronics.

The biggest # of the day was 299 hp!

Kyle - I scanned your dyno run and PM me if you want the file and I'll send it to you.

For a dyno in the MINI did you turn off DSC??

Were the results what you expected or were you surprised ???

Copy down the test date conditions -
Temperature- Hot and windy
Humidity- a bit rainy
Altitude- 1 foot above sea level
UV index 11 (bad, better put on your sunblock while waiting for the dyno)

I think most of the participants were underwhelmed by the numbers their cars were putting out. I pulled 243/258 and thought my numbers would be more along the lines of 266/270.

As far as the dyno is concerned, it just came back from recalibration so it should be spot on. There was a twin turboed 350z that put out @ 435hp to the wheels!

Test conditions were:

Temp - 84 - 87 degrees
Barometric pressure of 30"
Altitude - Sea level
DSC shut off on all cars
