Thanks minihune!

So, those silverish 8-spoked things on the wheels that seem to attract every molecule of brake dust, and are a real pain to clean ...those are plastic center hub covers? Why would they need to get removed, because they're delicate? I did not remove them for the Aloha 500, but I didn't run the whole track that day either, just skid pad and slaloms.

I keep the cold tire pressure at 36 psi, so I'll just keep it there for the event. I'll get fancy about it if I decide to go every month.

Mahalo,

No, S-lytes, the 17"x7.5" silver 8 spoke wheel that comes in the sport package for the MCS is an alloy wheel that has no part on it that needs to be removed for autocross. The plastic centercaps are on OK so leave them alone. Other smaller 16x6.5" wheels that come on the stock MCS or the MC with sports package come with a plastic disc that snaps onto the center of the wheel and covers the bolt holes- this is the plastic piece to remove-only because it can come off.

They discuss various tire pressures. Some people run the same in the front and rears and some run higher in the fronts up to 40-45 psi and 35 to 38 psi in the rear. The best way to do it is to have a tire temp gauge and do some runs and see where the tire is getting heated up in the center vs the sides then raise or lower the pressure to even out the temp in all parts of the tires front and rear. Track is different than autocross. On the track, cold tire pressures would be lower because the sessions are 20 minutes and the tires heat up more. Autocross the runs are only about a minute long x 4 runs.

A friend of mine has expressed interest in watching Lucy and I run over cones this Saturday. What time should I suggest she come out to the park, if I will be running in Heat 4? I assume I am running in Heat 4, since Lucy is stock.

Thanks!

Lucy is supposed to scare the cones but not topple them over. Each cone position/location is marked and if it leaves it's spot or tips over then you get a time penalty.

Erik808 mentioned he was going to get there by 1 pm. You might want to confirm this time with mini-t or Baronius just to be sure. Sometimes the organizers want you to work the early morning heats as a volunteer, break for lunch then return to do the afternoon runs. Your friend just needs to come by 1 pm to see you. It's a little easier to get onto the track area at that time but not impossible to cross over during the event in between runs-you'll just have to wait for a safe time.

Bring water, lunch if needed and sunscreen. You'll need a helmet. Check your tire pressure and oil level. If you rotate tires like we talked about you'll need to check tightness again after about 25 miles driven. Bring a half tank of gas-even a little less is OK. Heat 4 is for stock and for novice racers.

===>Hi, MINIangelD! I just read your post as I just got home. Hey, would you like to meet me a bit prior to the afternoon runs & go over together? We could meet at a Kapolei establishment -- HRP is right next door. Keep in mind that I'm a full-on beginner but as far as registering & the like goes ...I've got that down. As far as those cones go, they (the cones  )then!

Anyone know when the first heat starts? I was planning on going to just watch for my first time. I normally only go to HRP to drag race my '67 VW so this SCCA stuff is all new to me. Thanks.

People that are racing will get there about 8am or thereafter and the first heat start time will vary. Maybe 9 or later. It may vary. If you are a spectator you can come into the inner track area even after the first heat starts. You just need to wait in between cars.

Bring your MCS, sunscreen, dark glasses, water and lunch if you are going to stay the day. There is a break about noon for lunch.
