Recently saw a MINI with a board on top and was wondering if anyone knew what the best rack would be for the MINI. I'm hoping for a rack that can go on/off fairly quickly.

IMO, the best rack is the MINI accessory roof rack system.
The downside, it requires drilling holes into the roof.

There are aftermarket racks out there but it attaches to the flimsy, plastic rain gutters. Not too sturdy IMO.

Kohu'ulaMINI,

Thanks for the pic of kbseto's car. I have seen those and they are by far the most sturdy ones but I am not too keen on having a permanent mount. Getting old so I am probably going to have to load a longboard too (been over 20 years since I last surfed here) but it will only be when I can't use our other cars.

I saw one car drive by with a longboard in Ewa Beach but missed what kind of rack the car had (I think it was a girl driving).

I'll keep searching.

Let me clarify something......the MINI rack is removable and not a permanant fixture.
When removed, special MINI caps cover the holes which is included in the install kit (specify black or white roof)

Stout, yes,...but not for me. Hope that helps

Kohu'ulaMINI,

Yes, I have seen those puka covers when the rack is removed. Not for me though.

i gotta admit that the mini racks are probably the most solid set out there, so far. yep, supposedly they are removable, but i never have popped'em off. i'm gonna have to see for myself what the roof caps look like in place before i get my mcs. right now i'm trying to figure out if the other non-screw racks are really all that solid for carrying true longboards and possibly kayaks. not quite sold on them yet. as of now, i'm leaning toward saris roof racks. i'm hoping some more options pop up in the next few months as mini's get more popular.

Hi,

Just got my Clubman and the Mini Surf Rack I got with it is wierd. I don't know how to put the board on it. Any clues or help??? The manual is soooo confusing and I don't want to damage my car or the board. San Clemente local, gotta go to the beach!

thanks!

Do you have just the base rack system or did you get the surfboard carrier?
