So.... When And If Ever Do Mini Owners In Hawaii Ever Get Together ? I Mean I Went To The Hawaii Mini Owners Club And Looked At The Event Calendar And BAM ! Nothing

 

The club had a coffee gathering recently. On rare occasions 2-3 members might show up at the dealership at the same time.

I think it's time for board elections.

 

There was a Coffee gathering in Feb on the same date as the autocross at Aloha stadium so I was unable to attend. The coffee gatherings are rotated in location so that it is easier to get to no matter where you live. You can get in some driving at the same time. It's a more social meet and greet meeting with coffee nearby but you can also informally drive when it's done. In the past they were regular events even monthly and from the numbers you can see that coffee gatherings have been done over 20 times, some with very good attendance.

For this year if you have energy and some ideas you can run for an officer position and make changes. People are busy and just need to get some events planned.

I would invite all MINI owners to come out and attend the SCCA (Sports car club of america) test and tune event on May 1, 2011 at Aloha Stadium lower parking lot area. You can come and watch the next competition event which is April 10 in the same location to see what autocross looks like. The next event is the Championship runoffs for this season which has now ended. The drivers are up for three runs with fastest time in your class takes the championship no matter how you did all season which was 10 events with points given to top finishers. The points leader doesn't always prevail at runoffs. Points leader is usually consistent finishing high at each event but tends not to miss events.

We have some regular MINI drivers at autocross and in the past as many as 8 to 10 drivers. No reason a MINI can't do very well. Current MINIs are active in Stock class, Street Touring and Street Modified classes.

The other event coming soon is in June there is usually a build the track auto show and shine at the Aloha Tower marketplace sponsored by Kalaeloa Raceway Park. It is a free show but you need to contact Mike Kitchens from KRP and let him know that you might have MINIs from the club attend and how many- no limit so if only a few then it is fine but just reserve a spot early. It lasts all day from about 7 to 5pm. Come down to check out about 200 cars.

We will likely have an SCCA section with various race cars from Solo Cars to formula and track only cars to Rallycross cars.

 

A few other possible pre-planned events to meet up at for any club members are-

EuroSunday- any car can come by (Salt Lake area near PEX and airport)

Time: 9:00am to 11:00am

And there is Cars and Coffee for any car (many exotics attend)

The Cars and Coffee location is now being held at Ala Moana Shopping Center, Mall level parking by Sears in the corner of Ala Moana Blvd / Piikoi St

New Dates: Formerly held on the 2nd Saturday of the month it has now been moved to the 2nd SUNDAY of the month

Time: 8 am to 10 am

 

So Wait, Can Anyone With A Euro Can Attend ?

Any car means any car and if you have a Euro car then great.

Mostly BMW but some Mercedes, some Audi, more rarely exotics- go to Cars and Coffee for that. MINI is fine. Not that many VW, Porsche.

Sometimes Latka with his classic mini is there.

Usually they are there on time.

 

All MINI club members are invited to the SCCA Test and tune event on May 1, 2011 but you must sign up pre registration online soon.

hey are there any upcoming events i just moved to the area and was just wondering

 

As far as I know there are no official events on the schedule right now.

There are Eurosundays once a month over near salt Lake Moanalua shopping center near Nimitz hwy area

And there is cars and coffee each month at Ala Moana Shopping center 2nd floor near corner of piikoi and Ala Moana blvd- next date is May 13

 

For now no scheduled MINI club events that I know about

Cars and Coffee on July 8 from 8-10am

sometimes they go for a drive afterwards about 1030am

Meet at Ala Moana Parking lot second level at the corner of Piikoi and Ala Moana Blvd
