Another track day video
Another track day down. Damn, these things are fast!! I was consistently in the top of the pack, passing all kinds of dedicated track cars, muscle cars and other track beasts (Porsches, etc). My best lap of the 2 day event, awesomely enough, happened while chasing a track prepped R53. Good times!

Nicely done. I especially liked the 101% on throttle. Getting a little extra out of that puppy, eh?
Are you letting the transmission shift itself? The shifts seem to be coming at a little over 5000 rpm. What is the power band like above that?
Also, what is the stability like under hard braking? I didn’t see an drama in the video. I have read that some people with the JCW (including the Car and Driver one lap at VIR) experience tail wiggle under hard braking. I had some with mine, but that could have been due to the pad combination I had, front to rear.

I have pretty much gotten away from having the tail wag on my R56 by my choice of brake pads. I match the front and rears; DTC 60s at both ends. It was suggested by a HPDE instructor and BMW CCA racer that I try that. My R56 is moderately lightly spring for a track car (MINI sports suspension springs and B8 shocks) and this seems to work. My F56 JCW has the MINI JCW Pro Coilovers which are significantly stiffer than stock, but likely still light for the track. I have been playing with pads on JCW too, but have only tried one set, which I wasn’t pleased with.
In DavidPinAZ video it seems that the recorded g’s for braking might be a little off (low?). So I was curious what his seat of the pants feelings were. DavidPinAZ also seems to be doing some heavy trailbraking which I found would exacerbate the tail wag situation. So overall, it seems the GP with the tires and wheels he has is doing well in that area. Hopefully he will chime in.

I haven't noticed much tail-wagging, either in my GP3 or my previous 2019 MCS (JCW tune, exhaust, BBK and pro suspension). I've always used OEM pads, too. HOWEVER...There is some weirdness going on with the GP3. It seems to pull to the left under hard braking. I have 2 theories about that that I'm working on:
1). I have SS brake lines in back, but not in front...yet. Long story, but it's being worked on.
2) I banged a berm a month or so ago hard enough to damage the right front wheel. I think I might have an alignment issue because of that. Unfortunately, I'm waiting for my dealership to get alignment specs from Mini so it can be checked. Yes, this is a thing unfortunately.
I don't recall the pull happening on the track day before my berm incident.
So, because of that, I brake earlier than normal to help keep everything under control. If fixing the above two issues doesn't fix my pull, I'll be looking at aftermarket brake pads and/or other solutions.
You're right, though, I was playing with some trail braking that day to mixed results, heh!

I could see the trail braking in the g-circle. From my experience, that is what is needed for a lot of corners to get a MINI to turn-in and to carry speed through a corner. The early braking would explain the lower braking g-loads that were recorded. Still, nicely done.
A pull to the left? Hmmmm. I saw the berm bang in another video you had posted and the resulting mashed wheel. That was quite a hit. I do like the replacement wheels... need to be in black, though...
When you get the wheel alignment done, could you post the specs? I’d be curious as to how they compare to the JCW specs.
