Tinting for GP2

Hi everyone, I am considering to tint my GP2 and am wondering what other GP2 owners are currently using. Pics would be more than welcome. Thanks!

Tint is pretty basic, so in the end it's up to you to decide on how dark you want the windows. Your state has regulations, so I would advise you to find out how dark you can take your windows or you risk paying tint tax (eg. citation). Find a local reputable shop that uses quality film such as 3M Crystalline.

I know what you mean. I have actually tried out 2 tints already but I haven't been happy with how it looks. It seems the factory glass from GP2 is a little green tinted already. So it's hard to picture how the film will look until you actually put it on. That's why I am hoping to see what people have used and what it looks like.

depends on how dark u want it to look . I went with 35% all the way around and its the look i want . But remember because the GP is lower than the average car it looks darker from a stand but as soon as u lower yourself and look in it will look lighter... kinda confusing but u will see. Its illegal to tint your driver /passenger here in Canada but i have always tinted all the windows without hassle.

Thanks for the pic man!

By the way, is that Formula One Pinnacle 35?

In Ontario, we are allowed to tint the front doors too, the law just said as long as the police can see your face from the side, then it's okay. And 30-35 seems to be the darkest you can go without getting in trouble here!

Thanks for your pics man! I actually found one of your pic on a website from google search. Nice car. But this is what I am talking about, your finish is quite green too. I am wondering if it needs to go darker to say 30 to get rid of that green look.

Does anyone know if window tint tends to scratch after time? I would like to tint but been advised by 2 tint shops that it's common with minis for the tint to scratch. Anyone hear or now of this?

I think it has to do with the frameless door where people touch it all the time to open and close the door. Also when you take off the seat belt, some people tend to throw it backwards and would have it hit the window without realizing it.

I've never had a problem with tint in either my GP2 or MCS. I did have a problem with scratching in other cars, however, but it had nothing to do with opening or closing doors or taking off the seatbelt. Some rollers are prone to leaving vertical lines on glass and, if they're tinted, will scratch.

Another thing you may want to think about, and ask the shop (for me it's a big deal at least), is how they go about the dot matrix (the tiny black dots around the window). Different shops have different techniques. Some don't have any technique, and you're left with a lighter border (again, big deal for me, since I like it all to be uniform). Some techniques would be sanding (heard you can develop rust over time), adhession promoter, glue (CAN yellow over time), paint, or vinyl (over the dot matrix [im liking last 2 routes]).
