Hey E92oholic if you are really concerned with what other people think than stay in the BMW which really is a cruiser trying to be a sports car. However, if you really want a drivers car that is an absolute blast to drive then tell them **** off and buy a used GP2. I have just recently sold my Porsche's (2011 Boxster Spyder & 2007 911s with GT 3 Aero kit) so I understand completely where you are coming from regarding the comments from people. But the GP is hands down the funnest car I have ever driven. Even better than my Boxster Spyder which is regarded as the best Porsche to drive under $100k and regularly trounced the M3 boys at Sebring. Ironically, some of the best drivers I know with lots of cash/cars drive the Mini JCW or GP around town. Trust me when I tell you these guys have a car collection that would make us all fall over in envy including GT3 RS, GT3 Cup Cars and Radical RSX for the track. In fact, last week a good track friend that owns numerous Porsche's including a 911 Turbo, Cayman R and tricked out 2010 GT3 was making ridiculous comments about my GP. I stopped by his office and we took the GP for a drive with him driving. To say he was blow away is an understatement. He now is searching for a used GP to drive around town.
The best part about owning the GP is that it is undercover with people not expecting much (tons of BMW owners that fit that bill) and you take them for a ride in the GP. I just LAO as their jaw drops and they ask me to slow down because they are scared shitless.

Just remember you only live once so live your life the way you want and don't worry about others opinions because my guess is they have never driven a Mini GP.

Best of luck on your decision!

Take the Dunlop's no comparison. The Conti's are crap. Had them on my S.
JCW came with Dunlop's and I planed to dump them before 100 miles. They were so much better of a tire I kept them and tracked them too. Then sold them! Best WF tire in my opinion but expensive to replace. Way more expensive than the Conti's. I think a set is close to $1400!

Too bad you can't put a tune on the new GP's. The programmer on the N-14 JCW makes it a totally different car. BMW's are really not an issue on any track that has some corners that slow up the heavy cars. The extra 35HP makes a huge difference. In fact the car has trouble putting all of that to the ground coming out of the corners. If had to drive my JCW stock I would have sold it a couple years ago. Even my wife is now asking me to load the tune if she is going to drive it. With the tune at the track I find I can run a gear higher in many corners and carry more speed. The turbo pulls much harder from the a lower rev than stock.

BMS has a tune for the GP2. Mario Kart is running it on his and seen a great increase in his GP2.

Once i get the new tires on its going to be coming home right in the garage until i get a nice day to drive it. Have to sell the mods off my 335 to buy the tune and downpipes for it right way.

I had them order the dunlops. Trying to find a set of Pilot Super Sports for them to put on instead and just sell the Dunlops. I am not a fan of the run flats hated them on my 335 and 545

G-Force Rivals have been amazing since I came from RS-3's. Should consider Rivals if you ever have the chance. Leaps and bounds more grip.

Don't knock the Dunlop's until your try them. I thought the same thing until I drove the JCW. Went up 1 inch in rim size vs the S we had. Also I figured the JCW would be stiffer so I was expecting a harsher ride from the 10' S. I was so wrong. Rides like a caddy compared to the stock S. Not exactly sure why but it does. Dunlop's have excellent grip and the sidewalls are Hella stiff and your turn in is just amazing. Non-RF you give up some of that which sucks at the track but you get use to it. Normally running the sticky rubber if it dry and the Conti D/W if it is wet.

UGH this weather is killing me! Its just been snow snow snow and more snow. I just wanna drive my damn car! The way its looking its going to be sitting till June, even if it does warm up there are so many damn pot holes ill be cracking a wheel every week. its gotten so bad you can't avoid one without hitting another larger one. So for now just going in the garage and sitting in the car is going to have to do. :-(

Snow tires does wonders! My GP has been thru the worst Chicago winter and runs like a champ except for a nice little rock chip I received from a salt truck.

Yeah, really don't want to drive it in the snow. The roads are horrible and my last 3 BMW's got chewed up with rock/salt chips in the winter.

At least you have yours in your garage and can look at it! I purchased mine and it is sitting in the dealers showroom until this weather in Buffalo gets better. I am glad that they at least offered to keep it there until then. I ordered the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and had them shipped there to replace the Kumho's.

I also plan on getting the akrapovic downpipe, FMIC (can't decide on which one, leaning towards the one from Wagner Tuning), Spark Plugs and a Renn Tech tune.

Roads were finally dry today, went for a ride all over the place. Dodging pot holes was insane. Didnt hit one tho!

I have had a few BMWs, most recently an E46 M3 and a 135i with a JB4 and downpipes. I think the GP is more fun. People think I am crazy.
