The transformation has begun...
I have begun making my GP "mine". here's what I've done so far.
-Carbon fiber dash, center console, door handle covers, gas cap cover, parking brake handle, steering wheel spoke covers, door handle pulls, door handle lever rings and antenna cover.
-Stubby antenna
-LED scuttle turn signals
-OEM "secret" compartment.
-OEM Driving light kit- with yellow tint
Stay tuned

For the driving light kit, did you need to get new grille with brackets or are the brackets already there?
Thx.
regards,
Tim
Been a few months and just wanted to state that the car is pretty much complete
I still have a few more carbon pieces to add (door hoops and speaker covers) and then that's it. I have now put 1400 miles on the car and filled it up 3x and it feels like it's getting stronger with every mile..

Yeah just under 1500 actually...this time of year it is number 3 in the lineup so it doesn't get driven all that often. Probably only put 200 miles on it since June. Glad to see you're enjoying yours
How about a brief comparison of the MINI vs Porsche.
@Airborne Is it this Porsche? If it is, then I have to say it's a very good trade.

I would love to hear thoughts on MINI GP vs Porsche!

I’m not being smug or pompus when I say that there really is no comparison between the Mini GP and a Porsche 997 911. Two totally different machines with different design goals. One is a race version of an economy car and the other is an economical race car. but I wont leave you hanging like that… I’ll try to elaborate.
(put's on flame suit)
The GP has great go-cart like handling which is great around tight windy roads and lower speeds (< 100mph)… it does get a bit unstable -at least to me- at higher speeds and in the rain. The faster I go, the less confidence I have in the Mini. I'm talking speeds north of 80. Not saying it’s a death trap, because it’s not- it generally feels good but does tend to be a little unpredicitable on a straight line above 100. I believe this is due to it’s shorter wheelbase. Whereas the Porsche really comes alive at the higher speeds. I have complete confidence driving > 100 in any condition. The GP’s 6 pot brakes are, hands down, far superior to that of the Porsche’s. I have never had the honor of driving a Porsche with ceramic brakes so in Porsche’s defense, they do offer a race-inspired brake system.
I loved the fuel economy, handling and braking power of the GP. The power, the sound and overall drivability goes to the Porsche. which is why I went back to the brand (I've owned 3 other 911's in the past) The Mini GP is a great little car, just not worth 40 grand to me when there are a lot of nice Audi's, Porsche's, BMW's and Jaguars out there- just to name a few. Sure the GP impresses a few Mini owners but a Porsche impresses me.
I'm out
As a former owner of a 997 GT3RS, I can say that car looks so close to the real thing that I was fooled. But after comparing photos, I see from the rear end it is indeed a standard Carrera platform. But I can also say, I'd actually prefer that platform if it's my daily driver. The RS is so much a race car (you need to wind it up on shifts, watch out for any curb over 4 inches and like to hear your brakes squeak at every stop) that driving it in traffic was somewhat of a chore, especially with the standard cup tires. I was scared enough that I only tracked it after a few months of ownership. And I eventually sold it as I transitioned from Porsche to BMW for my track needs.
And yes, it's definitely a head turner.

Am I missing something?
The OP spends upwards of $10K on cosmetic carbon fiber parts and other doodads and then compares the GP II to a 997, "One is a race version of an economy car and the other is an economical race car." Uh, really? He didn't realize this before he bought it and spent all that money? Coming from someone who's evidently had Porsches previously and a Gallardo sitting in the garage, what was he thinking? To spend all that money and then realize, "Hey, this thing handles like an economy car turned into a racer!" seems to me to be pretty stupid. I had a neighbor just like this once, who could throw all the money he had into something just to say that "HE" did it, whether it was cars, boats, guns, you name it. He was never into anything for long and always seemed to justify his stupid spending with some dumb reason, but whenever you'd talk to him about some of the basics of whatever he was spending money on, you could tell he wasn't that bright. Most of his info he spewed out came from websites or magazines and within minutes of listening to his bragging, you could walk away and understand what tool his was... but his car/boat/guns/whatever was better than yours! ...until he moved onto the next latest thing. So now he has moved onto a "modified Porsche", one pretending to be something its really not. I bet that lasts less time than his experience with the GPII! OK, rant off!
Having never driven a GP II myself, I can say with the mods I've done to my R56 JCW, it is very stable at speeds up to 130 mph. After that, it starts to loosen up. I've had it up to 140 mph out in west Texas and that was scary. That was at stock ride height. I thought these GP IIs are supposed to have been aerodynamically tuned for the higher speeds. What gives?
