GP Dash Badging

Hello fellow GP owners,

I got my GP on 1/11/07 (#319) and was wondering if it was supposed to be badged as a GP on the passenger side dash panel. The brochures show this, however there is nothing on the dash to signify it as a GP. Just wondering what the others are like.

Homer. My GP has on the dash above the glove box the letters GP with 1292/2000 under it. I'm certain all the GP's have this. Your's does not?

No, my dash is naked, no GP insignia or number.

That really sucks because that's one of the few "one-off" parts for each GP... meaning getting one isn't going to be simple.

I would use this as an oppurtunity to put on a JCW leather dash on your GP.

I wouldnt even think twice about that one. In fact thats whats holding me back from doing a JCW dash on mine, the nice custom dash number.

Perhaps get a picture of it and find a someone to stamp it in or do a decal/pin of some type to put on there?

Sorry kind of small I'm not home but in any case your GP dash should have this badge and even w/ the leather dash the badge is still showing..

If you don't have this on your GP contact MINI USA directly .. thyere is a BIG screwed up !!

That totally stinks! I'm sure MINI USA would offer their assistance if contacted.

Just out of curiousity... does your GP have the JCW kit under the bonnet?

How bout the carbon fiber spoiler? Does it have that?

Yes, it is a genuine GP and has everything a GP should except for the Dash Badge. I contacted the service department at the dealer and they are trying to figure out how to solve this problem. It happens to be one of the extra 14 GP's that got released earlier this month.

They have them..

I just saw one of the 14 GP's left over and it did have a GP dash plaque on the passenger side sitting at the dealership it was 0382 or anotehr close to that. I would call 1866-ASK-MINI and they can contact HQ. They should be able to find out what happened.

Unfortunately, Someone wanted that badge and took it. Even though the
guys and gals at Bertone were watching the world soccer championships while they assembled our cars,I doubt they would have left that emblem off.
Let us know how you get along with your quest, Best of luck.

Homer,

Interesting, as I too purchased one of the "leftovers" just last week, however mine is badged (thank goodness). It would be interesting to know what exactly happened to it, as it wouldn't have been the easiest to swipe considering the adhesive that attaches it to the dash, however where there is a will, well, you know..

It was never there. I watched it come off the truck when it arrived at the dealership and it was not there at that time. No residue from it ever being there either.

So for now, the only badging inside will have to be the shift **** Doug made for me.

Good luck with getting your dash number, hopefully you can get Mini to get you fixed up. I'm still learning about uploading photos and such so I was not able to post a pic of my new Whalen shift machine and dash plaque, check it out in my gallery. Thought this might be an appropriate opportunity.

Well, I went to my dealer sevice advisor and this was the result. He did try hard to get another one.

Mike, if MINI can not give me a part for your vehicle then how can I resolve the situation? I’ve emailed John, who emailed Don, and they don’t have the part. I don’t like the answer anymore that you do, but this is a situation unfortunately I can not resolve without a part.

As you may have guessed, I'm somewhat disappointed.

Ask them if they can give you another GP, that DOES have the number. ANd if they cant do that, ask them if they can give you a JCW dash at 50% discount to hide the missing number. :P.

Sounds like a fair deal.
