Need XM advice for GP1292

Hey all,

I should be getting GP1292 in about 2 weeks. I would like XM in it and I'm not sure what my options are aside from what my dealer offers. I have seen some of you talk about XM Direct? Is that what the dealer offers? Any advice is appreciated.

Are there GP floormats available?

Do a search on XMDIRECT and Blitzsafe. There are dozens of threads arounds, some with pictures on how to do the install.

No dealers wont do XM (Most) because BMW has a deal with Sirius.

HOWEVER, before buying xmdirect, make sure the GP has the cd changer wiring in the right rear boot behind a panel.

I put in XM direct and it is the best thing I've done thus far. No, the dealer won't do XM as was pointed out previously.
You have to know what head you have, H/K, stock etc and if you have a cd changer or in dash player and what you will want to connect in addition to the XM, iPod, etc. That determines which unit you'll need. I don't think the units cost much more for all the options, but the wiring needs to be correct. It takes a time investment of about 30 minutes. Lots of good posts in Nav and Audio forums.

Thank you! I assume these came from the dealer?

Thanks Chow. Are there any current GP owners who have installed either and may already know what the GP wiring supports for XM radio? I would look but I don't have my GP....yet.
