Jacking a GP onto four jackstands

Has anyone successfully Jacked a GP onto four jackstands? If so could you please post your procedure. I.E. jacking point so you can sneak in the jack stand. Thanks Steve

I have had each side up. What you want may be a very tricky manuver. There is no place under the GP to lift or support except for the jack points. I have had each side up to change tires by driving both same side tires up on two by fours, and then holding the orange adapter in place at the factory jack point.

Then a low boy floor jack fit under the orange adapter to lift the side from the front jack point. The underbody air dams keep you from supporting the car by any point except for the jack points.

I am ready to be informed if anyone else has a way.

I wouldn't want to see a GP on four jack stands. As Jim says you'd have to use the spacers, and I can imagine the whole assembly being very unstable :(

Not a problem at all guys. Using the blocks and factory Jackpoints on one side front lifts both front and back. Block that side at the back with a jack stand and then let the front down. As the front goes down the opposite back comes up. Put the jack stand under there next.

ok so you now have both back jack points on the stands and the front wheels on the ground. If you lift the front again from the factory point (you need never move the jack) then both sides will come up as the backs are supported. Put the jack stand under that front side opposite the jack and you are full in the air.

At this point I left mine on the jack for the duration but if you really wanted to be on four stands you could let the jack down and slide in a stand. The jack points seem balanced and in far enough that any three will hold the car.

It was a lot easier than expected and I was also surprised at how stable the jacking blocks were. I did go to Harbor Freight and bought a new aluminum low profile jack so I could go right under the body kit with enough clearance.

Good luck, jj

This is exactly the kind of answer I was hopeing for. Your the man! I am still waiting for my GP and hope to get some miles in before the snow flys and they start to salt the roads. When that happens it will be garage time till spring. I didn't really want to have the car sitting on all four tires for the duration of winter so your ingenuity is much appreciated. Thanks alot for the help, Steve.

Anyone try this? I have a rear sway bar coming and it looks like a pain to put the car on jack stands for the install.

It's very easy as you only need the rear on stands to install a bar.
Jack car using front point, right or left. The MINI is stiff so the whole side goes up.
Put stand under rear point. Lower jack. Do other side. Remove wheels. Install rear bar.

That's what I'm trying to do, SAVE SOMEONE'S BUTT. 1322 has been up on four jack stands one time and it wasn't pretty, NEVER AGAIN.
DON'T DO IT!

Can you elaborate? We are asking for you to clarify what was ugly...that's just a tad too vague. Unbalanced? Difficult to do? Damage? Couldn't lower it afterwards?

Ummmm.... Is it that different then jacking a car with an aero kit. I jack mine using the weld subframes that are inset of the front jack point about 8 inches and further front by about 4 inches.

I put a piece of mdf under that part and use my low profile al racing jack from harbor freight and jack one side. Place jack points and then jack the other side.

I'd bet the gp has about .5"-.75" less clearance. because of the body kit and dropped suspension. I could be wrong.

I can provide pictures tonite guys so you can compare if you would like.

p.s. I know you guys are looking to just get the back raised. And for this reason judging from what i took from the description above... you're using a sort of tripod like jacking method... but I don't think you want you car balancing on 3 points. I dropped my alfa off jack stands doing that once. Not pretty.

Yep, I will go with that way which means removing all of the GP aero stuff underneath of the car...that should be fun.

Thats's a bigger project than you think. I would avoid it if you can.
