Hmmm... so on NAM, you're crazy if you buy a Cooper instead of an MCS, and you're crazy if you buy a GP.

Ian,

Is it possible to get a picture?

Also, we really enjoyed meeting you (and your wife) on MTTS!

Thanks! Looks like I may need to keep the GP a while longer while that Moller is perfected. Something tells me I'm gonna have a clubman first.

I've been in my GP now for 3,000+ miles and it's more than just the HP and lighter weight.

When you compare the car to an Mini S JCW, you will find the car to be more refined. I think the biggest difference I notice is in the supercharger / injectors upgrade and the aerodynamics. The aerodynamics underneath the car plus the wing must be doing something. It just feels more stable and you feel more comfortable in pushing the limits more.

Someone said there are better cars out there for the price...
I would argue there probably aren't any as well balanced as the GP. The combination of power, weight, brakes, handling, and sheer fun factor are in my opinion unequalled for $31K. Sure you could find something with more power or more this or more that, but none as balanced and as wel put together to make it fully usable than the GP. And I've tested a few...

My two cents.

Amen to that. Couldn't have put it any better.

The GP is a great little car that was a bargain compared to what a comparably equipt MINI would've been at the time. Everyone I met who bought one thought it was a no brainer.

The constant whining about horsepower is so tired. Horsepower is only relevent if you can use it. Yes there can be huge HP MINIs, are they useable for daily dirvers? no. I drove a massive HP 2006 Dodge Charger recently, terrible car.

The package is much more than the whole, put a GP at high speed (120mph+) and it all becomes very clear. The aero package is awesome and I just hope that the engineers find more ways to bring the technology to future MINIs.

There is a huge benefit to a factory engineered and warranted package. Mods are fun but I think everyone worries, at least a little, "did I screw up my car?" My car is bullet proof for 50K miles and maybe more. No worries. Even Bertone made a few bad moves in the assembly of these cars. Did the owners have to worry that their bigger IC voided the warranty? No way! Just go back to the dealer.

The Monterey delivery option was car junky heaven!

The wheels, wing and body kit are all unique and if you pick up ANY car-mods, hotrod or tuner mag you will see that unique is what we seek. I am fine with the 1/2000 level of unique. I don't need to drop $100K for a SEMA quality custom job.I want a driver not a show queen.

My car is Fun, Draws Attention, is a good Value, has depreciated not at all,
was all of these things right out of the box(instant gratification), has solid support, puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. That in my experience is very very rare in the world of cars.

To each his own but this time around the GP has everything I want so I got lucky and got one. Next year is next year. Besides, I'll toss it all out when they really fulfill the promise made when I was a little kid in the 60's....

I WANT MY FLYING CAR! lol :-)

Unfortunately I don't have any pics on hand but head over to GPMini.net and look around there.

One of the GP owners has a sweet lift in his garage and showed some of the aerodynamic panelling that helps with the overall performance.

Here's the underneath of the GP.

Tough to make out the panelling though. Motoringfile.com might have better pics.

I always get a kick out of these threads...lol

For those GP haters, you may not know what you are missing. The list of what makes a GP is much more than just the list of mods, its the final package that makes it so awesome. There are so many little bits on this car that make it unique...most were listed somewhere in the thread. Its such a well rounded package and for the money, in comparison to trying to build a comparable "regular " JCW car you cant beat it. 31,115??? Take a base model S and add the full JCW package and see the total, then add the 18" wheels and you are over the cost of a GP and you havent even given consideration to the GP specific parts.

If you are looking for an out of the box awesome mini the GP is a great option if you can get one. I had the pleasure of putting a couple thousand miles on a GP durring MTTS and that completly sold me.

Our GP will remain stock with only a couple little bits here and there and we will keep it forever so who cares if it is ever worth a crazy amount of $ or not. Its a Mini and its extremly fun and unique, one of 415 delivered to the states. Just think after 6 months to a year how many will be left? And how unique will it be then?

No matter what happens with the R56 the R53GP will always have its place as a limited edition unique and awesome Mini!!

Can you please enlighten me on the differences between the JCW supercharger/injectors and the ones they use in the GP?
