New JCW GP in Northern Cal.

New to NAM,
We picked up GP0216 at Monterey event. What a weekend, MINI USA
did a great job. The GP is our 1st MINI and is a blast to drive.

Grats on your GP. It is a fantastic car. To put some perspective on your situation, I started with an 04 MCS (MCS40). Great car, I was wowed by its speed, handling, ect. Then, I got an 05 MCS with the new lowered gearing, added a Milltek cat back exhaust, which some say added 5 more hp to the 5 hp increase of the 05 model and the difference was night and day. It went to the Awesome category in terms of speed, torque and general driving enjoyment. I just took delivery on an 06 MCS/JCW and man...... talk about a blast! I love this car. I'm glad I was able to go thru the progression to get where I got because I can truly appreciate what a blast it must be to have a GP because in terms of performance, I am just a hair behind you. (sorry for all of the "becauses" because the the Works MINI excites me ) Enjoy, I am!

Metal Man, Congrats on the new GP. I love that color and the silver and red accents are sweet. I can't wait to see it in person. I live in SF and work in MV.

MiniMaxx, I know what you mean. I have had my 06 MCS/JCW for a little over 2 months and I LOVE IT!!!! I really want to thumb my nose at the gas prices and fuel economy and drive with the supercharger whining and all torqued up (essentially forgetting that the car has 6 gears and only using the first 3....) That sound gives me goose-bumps.

Love that whine ..... !

Gotta love the sound of that supercharger.

I wonder if the new 2007 engine will have the same thrill.

Hey Metal,
Good to see you again. Hope you are enjoying the GP as much as me. Was Charlies party great or what? I have been wondering, are you gonna try and figure out how to get that Ferrari motor into the GP?
lol, hope to see you again some day, Jeff

Hey HighBid,
Hope your enjoying the GP as well. I still haven’t been able to wipe that smile off Tammy’s face it’s been there since Lagun Seca.
Yes, Charlies party was a blast.
The Ferrari will have to stay in the Deuce would have to stretch the front of the GP a couple of feet to shoehorn it in.
Mods on the GP as of date JCW Strut Brace,Alta shorty Antenna,JCW Carbon fiber shift ****,Boot mat,2 Clear Bras, Couldn’t live with the sub standard workmanship on the first one.
Hope all is well with you and the family. The next time you’re in the Bay Area give me a call would love to get together and swap some more stories.

Dean, two bras huh? I guess I am really lucky I couldn't connect with the installer there. Did you change brands and/or installers? I may make Monterey an annual thing so maybe I can join you for coffee next summer. Also Kelley and I are likely to do AMVIV so maybe you can too. The GP like long open roads.

JJ,
Yes I had to pull off the bra from the 1st installer, found a new place in Fremont Ca., Premier Industries they use a product called Venture Tape. Sam did a fantastic job, they did a one piece front air dam. It was 100% better quality. So the fight to recover some money from the 1st installer starts.
Were always up for a Vegas trip love the place.
If you do make Monterey next year give us a call we can use our place as home base were only 40 minutes from the track. Keep in touch.

Welcome to NAM!

A GP as your first Mini?! Hopefully you have an understanding boss, I'm sure you'll be "sick" the rest of the year.

PS - Thanks a lot of uploading the pictures, that event had to have been a blast!

Dean, wasn't that the place that we early GP owners were originally going to use? Shame that didn't work out then.

My local bodyshop friend is pushing me to get the front of GPMINI touched up from 6,000 miles of stone chips, and clear bra'd by one of his contacts ... we'll see how that goes.

Hey Ian,
Yes it was, and what a difference. I'm still trying to get something back from the first installer. By the way thanks again for the auto up, didn't know what I was missing. Now I want it on all my cars.
