Anyway you can find a shed-load of info from the last six months here: Motoringfile Search: "JCW GP"

Only $1000 per additional hp vs $2000.

Although I'll be checking in at 9:01 probably...Gabe, have you leaked any info to Todd? Peer pressure will make him buy one...

I don't think he needs any peer pressure - he's got the GP fever as far as I can tell

This has nothing to do with US spec. Both cars are the same. It's just that 214 HP equals 218 BHP. The US uses HP, the rest of the world uses BHP.
im still wondering on the cost. if its anywhere near $35k, ill take one. Im looking at getting a new cooper and the price ive customized it to my liking is $32k so prolly $35k after taxes and such. we will see though
I saw one at the car show yesterday.(Press day, NY) It was cool. No back seat. Weighs about 100 pounds less than stock. The Mini rep said that it would sell for around 30k. That seemed kind of low to me. I have a press kit with a DVD but I haven't looked at it yet.
Cooper Works GP...is it really worth it?
I think its a bit crazy that they are building up this car to be so special when it only has 214 bhp....and really not that much more to show for other than a cool aero kit, better handling, cool interior, rear seat delete, and IMO the ugliest 18" wheels I've ever seen.
No offense to JCW works fans, but I just don't see the value here, If JCW is going to make limited production kit cars and charge probably 35K+ for the Works GP car, not to mention only 415 will be coming to the US.
Here is an example, as an owner of a both a 2003 MCS and 2005 Lotus Elise(about 2,000 Elises were brought to the US in '05) considered one of the best, handling cars ever made, and much quicker than any stock Mini, it only cost $39,000....see where I'm going here?
Sorry but if a Mini is going to approach the price of an Elise, not to mention possibly cost as much or MORE than a new Mitsubishi Evo9, and subaru WRX STI, all cars that obliterate any stock Mini in performance, then I just don't see any sense at all in buying a cooper works GP kit. If your going to make limited production kit, and charge that much money, for god's sake the car should have had better looking wheels, and how about a turbo?
For the price of the works GP kit I could probably pay someone to custom-fab a turbo-only kit on my MCS, or for less money buy one of the twincharger kits out there, upgrade my clutch/lsd/flywheel, get coilovers, Sparco seats, rear seat delete, an aero kit, install it all, and probably have money left in the bank when I'm done...for about the same or less money than the works GP kit
If Mini is going to make a car that has a US production run of 415 cars, about the same as the Lotus Exige, this car should make much more of a statement in the peformance department, like in the neighborhood of 250+ bhp and the torque to back it up. 0-60 in just under 6.5 secs can be had in any MCS with a pulley, intake, exhaust and good software. I want the GP body kit and wing though! I'd put one on mine.

BTW, MotoringFile broke the news of the official price
$31k and change certainly seems like a much better "value" than our former speculation of $35k - $40k for what is essently a track ready club racer. I predict 100% pre-sold vehicles. People, the que is already forming, get on line ASAP.
if you think the GP isn't worth it, then you should evaluate if you think a regular S with JCW is worth is also. try to spec a MCS with all the bits on the GP and then check out the price.
also, sure you can add a turbo to your MCS, but consider that the GP is covered under warrantee.
the only thing i'm not completly sold on are the looks. as far as what else is offered on the GP, i think it's a great deal if you are interested in a JCW MCS.
my 2¢.

Not a smoking deal, but not bad. This is priced about $1k more than a factory JCW with JCW suspension kit added. I think that would be a better way to go for most as you would get AC/Xenons/DSC, have a choice of colors, and still have a REAR SEAT, which all Minis have always had from the freaking beginning of time!
