Personally I'm not a huge fan of dealer parts+warranty, and considering I do my own work it makes more sense to me to spend less on aftermarket parts but go faster. I'll give credit to Mini for putting a waranty on the JCW parts, but it's not my cup of tea.

I find it hard for this car to sell for 31k.
A bare JCW is like 29,600 including dest charge.(i just configured it)
I think these will be going at a premium.
The elise is a kick @ss car, and i would have loved one.
But it was 39-41k, rear wheel drive and two seater.
I needed a place for 2kids min, and fwd or awd due to some snow every now and then.
BTW... another reason I love my mini is because it cost me $23k.

You know, in looking at new photos I am again struck by just how kluged together the body kit looks. The rear bumper just looks stock with added inserts into the back openings, the side skirts are much lower and do not align with the rear, and the front looks so odd with the black arches just stopping off when hitting the front bumper. Thow in the red mittens and strange wheels and it does not look cohesive/finished to me... think they could have done better in that dept. Its still a Mini so at least it looks good in most ways tho

I like the interior gauges and the wing looks... interesting. These will show up in aftermarket form.
Had MINI actually attempted to make a true racecar MINI, what would you improve over the MINI GP?
Me, if you take the back seats out you might as well add a rollcage. And since it is a racer, I see no need for adjustable seats ( vs. race legal fixed backs). Obivously power increases would be nice, but instead, a healthy diet would be much nicer. Our cars are heavy-- actually, the weight of the GP is probably the biggest disappointment for me... besides the wheels. Oh, and instead of "S" in the side gills, how about a cute "GP"?

Negative votes are cheap. There will be none left for sale by the time the first one comes ashore in the states.
It is not a deal if you already have a JCW. It is a value if you do not.

So this seems like a reasonable deal, but not a good one.
Base S: $21,450
Sport Package: $1400
JCW Kit: $6300
JCW suspension: $1500 (installed)
Aluminum control arms: $200
----------------------------------
That comes out to: $30,850
Of course you're short 4hp, but you're also short Xenons and maybe a few other bits. I guess it looks attractive if you place a high value on those subtle lightweight rims and that beautifully executed body kit...

My 2002 MCS with Works Kit upgraded to 207 hp, metallic paint, DSC, Auto A/C, MFSW, OBC and front fogs cost me $27,000.
Buying a similarly spec'd 2006 JCW or the GP would cost me 5 to 7 grand more

Considering Buying
I am in contact with my dealer on reserving one, and was curious if anyone has any ideas if these JCW GP's will be considered like SLT, LS, etc. when insuring them? I am a young driver and a to insure a MCS isn't that much more than my MC. Since the GP would have more horsepower than the standard MCS it would seem like it should cost more to insure.
Thanks
