Late last week I removed the decals from the hood. They were faded and chipped and just made the whole car look sad. It was a royal PITA, and I finally had to break out the industrial strength 3M adhesive removed but I finally got things cleaned up.
Today I finally got back to the project. I clayed, polished, and waxed the whole car. The paint looks like new, with the exception of a defective spot of clear coat near the surround decal.
I used alcohol to remove the wax where the decals were placed and used soapy water to float them into place. Then put another coat of wax around them. A heat gun turned out to be my best friend when getting the decals to lay flat around curves. I also added rally name tags on the rear windows. Not sure how I feel about those yet.
