New Owner GP 1122

hi all,newbie here
i,ve been lucky and bless that mini GP now i own it
it have 49k miles now and come with Maintenance warranty 100K or until 2012 so i go pick it up in HOUSTON and paid for it.
have some problem that i just notice and need some guidence:
1.Pass seat recline is not working,
2.cigarette power is out from the house and sometimes not working.
so i go check it out to MINI dealer but they say is out of warranty and the service warranty is not cover for seat .so they will charge me $90 just for check and take a look
is anybody ever have same problem ?

thanks

welcome, GP owners are popping up all over the place lately. yeah i've had a similar problem with the dealer ship trying to charge me for looking...oh you mean with the car. lol

i have an 03 cooper that the cigarette lighter is essentially broken. (it works but pops out of the console) i would start by popping it out (it pulls out if your careful) and cleaning the contacts on the outlet with some rubbing alcohol and see if that fixes things.

as for the seat, it sounds like a cable either broke or stretched. i'm not sure what the remedy for that is.

Its bc GP collectors are liquidating. Welcome to the GP owners club. Don't do any bolt on mods but just get a RMW Tune and you will be very happy! The car is very fun stock!

Can you glue the cig lighter in place? Also, try replacing cig lighter fuse. I don't think the lighter house is expensive you could just replace yourself. I've seen old threads regarding the seats recline issue. Do a search function:

Why not bolt on parts?

b/c for a small price you can get the most bang for you buck with a RMW Tune. Real power to the wheels, real gains. Looks like most GPs put down 185whp and 155wtq stock. You should be able to get 205whp/185wtq with just a tune. If you're still not happy with that then get some cams, headers, manifold, etc and go back for another tune. Otherwise, I think stock + tune = best bang for the buck.

gotcha:-) i think a pulley is far cheaper than an rmw tune with good numbers as well. I prefer to bolt on what i want then tune to optimize. an rmw tune is a nice bang for the buck indeed.

Don't get me wrong. I mod the crap out of all my cars. I was just talking about getting some real world power gains (mods wise).

google Revolution MotorWorks and you'll find the contact info you'll need to get your car tuned on their site.
