which spark plugs to use?

Time to replace the original plugs. (Well, since I'm at 51K miles, I want to change the plugs, even if just early preventative maintenance.) What plugs are people using in their GP these days?

Don't know about the GP but this link has more info about spark plugs for the Mini than I ever knew. Good luck.

JCW cars & GP cars use a special plug that's listed on your JCW certificate.

I would tell you what it says but my certificate is at home & I haven't bought plugs recently so I can't remember what it is.

I tried Brisk Silver plugs which worked well but started to run a little bad after about 10,000 miles. As the noted post states, silver is a great conductor but it wears fast. So if you go with silver plugs, plan to change plugs every 10,000 miles. I thought that was a little bit of a pain for the GP since the intercooler has to be removed to change the plugs so I switched back to the stock JCW plugs which are NGK BKR 7 EQUP. The NGK plugs are working well. I purchased mine from Way Motor Works.

There has been various posts on the change interval for the JCW plugs. I have seen posts that vary from every 15,000 miles to 100,000 miles. I changed my first NGK set out at about 30,000 miles and they looked pretty good. I think changing the NGK plugs every 15,000 miles is earlier than probably required for normal driving conditions. I am shooting to change out my current set of NGK plus after 30,000 miles.
