Orange Lifting Blocks

I just found out that my GP is missing the four orange lifting point extenders used to jack the car up. I called Crevier BMW and after some searching the found the part, but want $63 each!

What do you guys use to lift this car if you no longer have the orange blocks?

Don't have mine either and I'm also missing one of the plastic flap covers that clip over the frame pocket, in my case the one under the driver side. I'm with just using a block of wood, which I will test soon with my spanky new Racing Jack from Harbor Freight tools. The missing cover is something to scour ebay for over the next few years, though the benefit of the cover is a bit sketchy. The only plus is that it's an OEM part, and I do want to keep GP 0826 in spec.

Check at a different dealer as the part number is 51717188454 and they are listed at 28.49 ea.

RealOEM is a good place to see parts diagrams and to obtain part numbers.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/

The covers are:

Cover, jack fixture, rear left; P/N 51777186271
Cover, jack fixture, rear right; P/N 51777186272

The blocks would be easy to make. just get the exact mesurements, and anyone who is a good wood cutter can make.. Then paint orange!!

I guess I'll go the orange wood route too I'm guessing the wood should fit inside the lifting point. Thanks for the info about the covers guys, I'm missing those as well.

Be careful how you use wood blocks. You need to pay attention to the wood grain and how you apply stress to the block so that you do not split the wood block, especially when using a small block at the jack point where the weight/force is not distributed over much surface area.

I have used long wood blocks under the Mini with no problem (not at the jack point) but a small block at the jack point is a different issue. I have split 6" long 2x4 pine blocks on heavier vehicles, so just be careful.
