Love the MINI GP -- HATE THE ROADS I DRIVE ON
As the Title States, I LOVE the MINI GP BUT I HATE THE ROADS I HAVE TO DRIVE ON, especially at this time of the year because of all the Frost Heaves.
Does the GP have a Skid Plate or another form of protection for the underneath, to protect valuable compenents?? Please say that it does!!
The biggest problem I have, is with "DIPS" in the road. Some of the "Dips" that I have hit (and didn't see until to late), they have caused part of the MINI to scrap on the road. I'm not sure what part of the MINI is scraping the road but *KNOCK ON WOOD*, thankfully nothing has broken yet.
Things will be a lot better once Summer arrives and the frost heaves are gone and the sand that was put down by the plow trucks, has disappeared. It sucks that I have to take a curve at a speed of around 20 MPH and not around 30 or 35 MPH, because of all the sand on the road.
Well, I'm going to take PICs of the MINI GP now and then posting them to my Gallery on this site.

The GP has a full underbody paneling but that starts rear of the motor. So basically no you do not have any protection. If your roads are very severe I would strongly advise that you install camber plates to protect yourself against mushrooming of the shock towers. I have the Ireland Eng fixed and like them alot for a street ride. The reasons you mentioned are why I take mine off the road till spring.
Enjoy the ride, Steve

You might only be hitting the small black plastic/rubber front spoiler that is rear of the front bumper/spoiler. It is a couple inches lower than the front bumper. I scrap it frequently on bumps. Look under the front of your GP and you should see it. It will probably be scrapped up. If that is all that is hitting there should be no real problem.
As Steve pointed out, something to protect against strut tower mushrooming and torn top strut bushings would be a good idea. I use Hotchkis adjustable camber plates. However, IE fixed plates will also work and are less expensive.
