H&R Street Performance Coilovers Installed

After trying various wheel and tire combinations for GP1512 to get the ride quality where I wanted it, and almost going with Cross Competition Coilovers, I had H&R Street Performance Coilovers installed over the weekend by Danny at MiniCorsa. He also installed the Ireland Engineering fixed camber plates and H-Sport 19mm rear sway bar (set to the middle position/hole).

I am very pleased with the results: More compliant ride with less harshness and chop. The coilovers are very reasonably priced at less than $1,000. I am going to drive it around for a few weeks and take it back for final ride height adjustment and alignment. At first I thought the rear was a little stiffer/lively than I expected, but some of that may have been due to the quality of roads in Danny's area, which are worse than where I live ;-). I took the GP for a quick drive up Mulholland Drive but cannot compare to the stock GP suspension since I hadn't tested that before hand.

Based on my ride in Bryan's (Longboard Mini) MINI with the same coilovers and 215/35x18 Wheels/tire combo, which seemed much better than the stock GP suspension and 16" tire/wheel combo, I will probably go back to the GP wheels after the current tires are worn out. The GP looks best with those wheels.

I have the GP springs and shocks in a box in the garage.

The Out-Pace rear control arms I got with custom spacers didn't fit due to a change from a rubber boot to cup type seals for the rod ends. I might get the spacer width reduced and install when we do make the final adjustments.
