Now I'm not sure who you will get to tweak the car, but stay realistic about it, and count labour at $100 per hour for all your tweaking.

Also include the additional tweaking involved for the tooner crap that dont work or run right. lol.
You can take all that other stuff off and return to stock, but leave on the exhaust and the pulley if it's no more than a 15%er. I'll give you full credit for those. LDG will do all the flash tweaking for a flat charge and, ok, I'll charge myself $100 an hour for the interior and suspension stuff, if needed. That will depend on what forum we use for the challenge. Now the big problem. Who is going to let you flog the crap out of their GP to prove a point?

Well... if I take all the stuff off, that will take time and money, which will add to the amount spent, which means you will lose the challenge before it even begins... (and i will end up with a slower car)

I was planning on flogging the caca out of my GP.

But maybe I should use Le Sharks... that thing needs some real loving.

Well, we gotta start with a stock MCS for me to make my point. I have no clue if any of what you put on works together. With a stock car I know what I'm starting with. Is LeShark's a relatively stock '05 or '06. If it's an earlier model, I'll buy the new tranny, but you can't count it against the difference.

You assume to know a lot about me, are you one of those psychic friends dudes? If you were you'd know my wifes car has 5k miles on it and this is how she wants to roll until the warranty expires. I've learnt a long time ago when the the Long Haired Colonel's happy, everyone's happy.

I'm the type of person who doesn't get twisted around the axle over what other people do as long as it doesn't affect me. As far as "letting" someone F-up something they bought and paid for themselves...more power to them, period, dot. Life is too short to sweat the petty stuff, i'd rather pet the sweaty stuff.

[quote=Edge;1710346]Works gill? Whazzat? Even if you meant to say Works grill, there was no such thing for the R53. Did you mean the aero grill? If so, it was never made or sold as a JCW accessory for the R53.I never said they were "bottlenecks", but they are factors that potentially (or definitely, I'm not the expert on them) contribute to the overall performance.

You are absolutely correct... pardon my old age moment... It happens at my age... My BAD dont know what the hell I was thinking... :impatient

Im going to take the other approach on all this.. ( speaking for me only )

04 EB/W with $25kcash+mods -> fast+fun = Dealer gave me SH*& and blamed every repair needed on the car on the MODs ( see past posts about clutch noise as an example ) which = very unhappy / frustrated motor'r. Having done the mods not worth it for the frustrations caused under warranty.

06 GP $31.5k cash -> much faster ( ok just a little faster to some ) handles much much better ..Is unique to the point that someone cant just buy parts to make their car a knock off. OOh yea, and the fricken dealer just smiles and says " yes sir, we will look into that issue UNDER YOUR WARRANTY " This makes Markie a happy motor'r...

or do mods for what? couple extra hp...for what? frustration at service time..to say MY GP has more horseys than your car... Im secure with myself and my car..Ill use that money for my next yacht trip to the Virgin Islands..

P.S. This is must me thinking out loud... Im not slamming anyone on any of their coments.. Just Marks thought.. I say mod away if it floats your boat...

azminiman - I understand and agree with your thinking. Option #3 is to buy a JCW MCS and modify it with actual GP parts. Although you may meet -some- hassle from the dealers, you shouldn't get much because they are real OEM parts. That's the direction I'm going - maximum OEM parts.

I love the GP and I would have bought one if the timing was right, but it wasn't. Instead, I'm going to end up with the "luxury" version of the GP. Heavier, sure... and therefore not quite as fast... but with a LOT more creature comforts!

There are only 3 "UNIQUE TO GP" items I'm truly interested in for my JCW MCS:
  1. GP intercooler
  2. GP trailing arms
  3. GP wheels
I can skip the wing (I'll be happy with the JCW wing), and I am not really interested in a body kit nor a paint job.

Do I think I will be making my car a GP? No, of course not. It will never be a GP, nor will I even try to pretend it is. However, it will be a maxxed out OEM R53, with almost every OEM option ever made for it (that doesn't conflict with another, lesser option of course... like the push start button vs. the JCW leather dash). And that in itself is unique and special enough for me.
