What are you paying at the pump?
You know things aren't looking good when the local News covers gas prices in the morning and says, "head to the pumps this morning folks, by your afternoon commute prices are expected to be $.02 - $.05 higher, with even worse predictions for the weekend.
I'm tempted to drive my ridiculously-sized SUV the 1/2 mile to the gas station, fill it to the brim this morning, drive it back home, and siphon gas out of it for my MINI all weekend.

Maybe he wants to make the News and be known as, "the first to hit $4".
I just had my first $50 fill-up yesterday!
And passing the Bay Area's most expensive Chevron station (coincidentally closest to their San Ramon HQ) premium was priced at:
$4.15!

Fully .30 higher than its corner competitors. I can't figure that one out...
We've been pretty consistantly around 3.79 a gallon out here. Dips down every once in a while but it's mostly just been going up. I don't remember the last time I bought gas in Southern California for less than $3.00 a gallon
.
I'm approaching $420 this month for gas alone. (My credit card statement runs through the 9th, so that's how i've been tracking it. I'll be around $450 from 4/9 to 5/9 i'm sure
. All I can say is, welcome to Europe!

I pray to the Gods every night that I have a company car/gas card for my daily driver.
I've seen $3.59 to $3.79 at most of the Shell/Cheveron's around Central Cali.
I don't even want to think about filling up my motorhome with a 75 gal tank.
Might have to get a loan from the Credit Union for that one.

May 15
I just got an e-mail about a Gas Out. Simple: don't buy gas May 15, if all who read this (through the chain effect) don't fork over our hard-earned dough that day, maybe the gas companies will get a clue.
They did last time it was tried. If this is considered *olitcal, then we have no "right" to complain.

Not so long ago when gas prices approached $3.00 around here the gas in California was 35 to 40 cents higher. There were though good reasons provided by the gasoline distributors as to why California's gas should cost more (special additives, smaller distribution quantities, etc.).
What I'm wondering is why the difference now is so much greater than it was then (Gas now - 5/3/07 - is around $2.95 in Albuquerque).
What's changed? To me it seems like Californians are bieng hoodwinked.

Alot of what we pay is taxes! I think around 50 cents a gallon.
Ken Cooper, where the heck are you buying your gas??? Every station I've seen is at $3.29 or higher for 91.
Also re: California; it has nothing to do with production costs. It has everything to do with how much folks will pay. And Californians have shown (housing market) that they will pay outrageous amounts for "necessities".
It's all about the profit, people.

P.S. Holding steady at 33 mpg (~1 mpg lower than the computer display suggests)

I can assure you you are no where near the English price yet!!
We are now at about 97p per litre and have been promised £1 per litre shortly. With today's exchange rate about $2 per litre and according to the conversion I have looked at there are 3.8 litres to a US gallon!
Dont ever catch us up!!

Costco in Hawaii (top tier gas)
$3.14 for regular
$3.35 for premium
So why am I getting only 21 mpg lately?
The MINI is so darn fun to drive:impatient
Hey, it's not even summer yet.

My last fill up 5 days ago was $3.19 for Premium. (Madison, WI) I'm not complaining about gas prices in America, but what gets me is the fact these oil companies are making ridiculous profits. I mean, Exxon/Mobil has made over 9 billion dollars for just this first quarter of 2007.
I don't mind paying over 3 bucks or more for gas considering in Europe, it's worse there. It's the fact these oil companies are practically ripping us off for huge profits. And they say it's "Supply and Demand", I don't believe it one bit.
On a side note, I've been averaging around 27-28mpg on every fill up and it's around 40/60 highway/city.
