Here in Raleigh I rarely get a wave back, but I still do it. I even waved at a guy in a silk green Cooper last night with a white apple graphic on the door - but I was running, and I don't think he was paying attention to us runners.

I've gotten more waves from people not in MINI's and only from other MINI's mostly when I'm travelling outside of town. I still do it, hoping it will catch on, but I'm not holding my breath.

i hope all you non-wavers are having as much fun with your mini's as i am with mine!
WOW, What up with that? Everyone south of Richmond waves...LOL maybe you just need need to get outside the Beltway.

Ps. Have fun on the curvy roads!

Well ... if you see a Chili Red and White cooper (there seems to be one on every street corner in Raleigh) the one waving is me!

Lighten up people! Give the guy a wave.

I'll keep my eye out and will certainly wave back. There is actually a CR/W MCS that parks at one of the other buildings in the office park that I work at, but I have never seen it (to my knowledge) while driving around town. Could that be you? I see a BRG/W MC quite often, but usually we are never in the position to see each other waving.

BTW, I'm a AB/W MC with bonnet stripes!

Don't be tempted by the Dark Side. Wave! I feel bad when I wave & I don't get one back; but there are times when I can get several on the way home from work. That just makes everything so much nicer. The work tension, bad news on the radio, everything goes away because there's one more person that drives the most enjoyable car on the road that wants to say Hi to me.

"So don't leave a brother hangin" WAVE

I waved at a MINI today. Got a "Well, OK, if you insist" back. But at least it was a wave.

I think here in northern VA that to the vast majority of MINI owners it's just a car. Most aren't 'into' it as much as we. Their loss! Be wavin' at ya some day.

I got so few at first I thought it wasn't recognized as a MINI by some coming head on because it was a convert and had the aero kit and grills. Then I found and head from others too that just not many wave.
I don't consider NoVA part of Virginia. In the real VA, people wave.

Oh, that's how it is, huh? Well, I'd be all for separation... make a new state... South Virginia and Virginia... just like West.

Waving to warn you of cows in the road doesn't count.

Driving in NoVA sometimes takes a bit of concentration. It would be easy to miss the passing of another Mini when focused upon the road ahead. Not to mention the folks trying to get more done on that durn phone!

I was just in SF last night on foot and noticed how practically
every other car now is a MINI. which makes sense- parking is difficult
enough around there....but I can see how waving would be dead out there
when there are so many MINIs....kind of loses its 'specialness'
That said...glad I dont live in the City. I enjoy the wave!

That reminds of of a hilarious bumper sticker I saw this afternoon, here in NoVA:

We wave here in NY and NJ. I'd say I receive about an 80 to 90% response back from my friendly "gestures." Flashing Xenons, honks, thumbs up and waves are the norm for me.

Well I will be driving back from Florida the 2nd week of May. Unfortunatley, I have to take the Autotrain down. My Mom (92) can only take the ride for so long. So it will be interesting to see how many MINI's I see while I am there and how many of them wave. So if you see a HyperBlue, CabrioS with Union
Jack rearview and side mirror covers, thats Mrs. Peel. Please wave.

Me, too. I nearly ran into a tree while waving, driving, sipping a big slurpee, talking on the cell phone, changing a CD, trying to understand the in-dash Navigator, and reading emails.

I just got my mini and now I see them all the time but the other day a blue MCS with stripes came up on me in the morning on the Franconia-Springfield Parkway (towards Alexandria, where I also live) and I thought to myself "I should wave". Well, I moved over to the right lane to let him pass but didn't wave just expecting it to be someone who thought it was "just a car" and would probably wonder why I waved. Well, as this Mini passed I saw the good ole North American Motoring logo sticker on his/her rear windshield.

I should have waved :(

Got A Huge Wave

Wahooo.... I was waiting at a stop light today when I heard honking. Someone in a Pepper White and Black MINI was honking and waving out of their sun roof as they passed thru the intersection. OMG. YES!!!! That absolutely made my day. That was the heartiest MINI wave I've ever seen in the whole of Tarrant County.

I think I get more waves from non-mini drivers!

Not as many enthusiast as I would have hoped for.

OK, this reminds me of the time my BF was walking my dog and spotted a MINI parked on my block. He was looking at the car because I'd just gotten mine. The driver gave him the cold shoulder. Then, about 20 minutes later, as we were exiting my parking lot, the same woman was pulling away from the curb and gave us the wave.

I always wave. If someone doesn't wave back, then I chalk it up to they didn't see me or they are an imposter, borrowed the mini from the true owner, or they stole it!!! Always wave. Don't let the tradition die!!

I had very low expectations of ever getting a wave back, but then the weather cooled off and I suddenly got a whole rash of waving MINIacs!!!! I don't know what the deal is, but I guess I'll keep pluggin' away.
