Always Dirty Boot

For all you experts out there,I have a 2006 MCSca, everyday I drive, the boot area always gets too dirty . Is there any way I can keep it clean from all that dust due to the backdraft ?

Do a search, this has been asked before.

Basically there's no way to prevent it, but there are various ways to remove it. You can wash it (obviously), take a California Duster to it, etc...

Which brings me to the inevitible question: Since Minis are notoriously "dirty-booted," why are there so many knuckleheads on NAM who want to remove their rear hatch windshield wipers? The JCW GP car does not have one... Must be an 'in-the-know-racer' thing... we don't drive in inclimate weather? I don't get it.

Go ahead gearheads, flame me, but why would you want to remove a 16-oz. device that keeps the window clear enough to see what's behind you? Lotus Exige envy? Going for the "can't see behind me, but who cares?" attitude?

The only thing I've seen that helps was someone had installed the Palo-Uber wing which has a lip at the back which changed the airflow and reduced the dirt. I think I'm remembering that correctly.

The only way to keep the boot clean is to have a spoiler/deflector that will direct a constant flow of air over it.

...what PARTSMAN said, you need something to direct a reasonably-laminar flow of downward air over the window/hatch area. If may increase lift a bit at speed, but I'm certain it can be designed. Maybe a Lotus-Exige-like air snorkel? Hmmm...

It's on my list, and I have something already to use for it, just don't when i'll get to it.

I can't imagine that the cabrio isn't even worse...not having driven a coupe, I can't say for sure, but the cabrio does not have a rear windshield wiper and the shape at the back edge of the soft-top is a little different. This morning, with wet salty roads, I could literally not see anything behind me unless it had headlights. Now, that being said, I can use my side mirrors pretty well, and who really cares what's behind me...unless they are flashing blue lights, of course.

Yep, the back of the cabrio is awfully dirty...
Even with the top down - then the dust just gets sucked into the folded top - no kidding, it can be completely clean, then after a top-down motor there's lots of road dust in there...

I thought about strapping my 7 year old to my rear cargo carrier with goggles, a spray bottle and a microfiber cloth... he'd love it, but I'm afraid he'd swirl the paint...
