Would you buy another MINI?
did you trade so often because they are unreliable?
You bet! I have purchased 3 MINIs so far. Bought an '05 MC in July of 2005. Then in May of '06 bought my wife a Pepper White 06 MCS. And in August of 06 I traded in my '05 and bought an 06 MCS. I just love these cars. An after 5 weekends straight of snow, I love it even more.
My 2005 S has been nothing but a problem dog named "Rover," but my dealer is nothing short of awesome on ALL ends of the business. Plus I have friends with MINIs that have had zero or little trouble, some with cars approaching 80-100k miles. So yes Im going to order a new MCSa on friday, because 1) Ive built a HUGE amount of equity in my little red lemon, so do it now while demand is high, 2) while Im soured on my car, Im not soured on the brand, and 3) there's nothing else I want.
Figure I'll give it one more chance here.

Wow old thread resurrected!! I'm on MINI #2 and at 85,000 miles on the 2005 MCS, it's been pretty trouble free until yesterday where I shredded the SC belt thanks to a failed tensioner. Just have the 100mile towing option with AAA, and the best mechanic (MINICorsa for me) and you'll be fine! I was up and running within a few hours.
That was sarcasm. No way BMW is giving up MINI with sales skyrocketing.
I just ordered my 4th. Trading in my '06 S on an '08, partly for better gas mileage, mostly for the LSD.
None of the three we've had so far have had major issues other than my current S needing to have the clutch replaced due to a transmission leak at ~ 600 miles. Everything else has been just as good or better than any other car we've purchased.

Obviously, we did buy another MINI, we've just got Number 4.
This time we're planning on keeping the latest 2 a little longer, the improvements in the R56 were difficult to resist, so unless they can make an even, even better MINI we'll keep these for a while.
The next gen isn't due until 2010 probably, which is just about the time Tristan's included maintenance runs out.

I'm on my 3rd mini since April. I wasn't satisfied with the first one (didn't have the features it was sold as)
The second convertible was great but I needed more room for my two girls.
My '08 mcs is perfect.
The point is, by the time I got rid of the first two, I could have obviously chosen something else and I STILL went for another mini.
Best car I've ever owned....

MINI and Only a MINI!
My 17 year old son will get Winnie when he graduates college in 4 years and I'm driving to the dealership about 8 weeks before that and ordering another Cabrio (maybe PW next time). She only has 10k miles on her and might have 50 or 60k by then. First owner put on 4k in 3 years, I've put on 6k in 5 months, I guess I'm not driving her enough. Be back in a couple of hours.

I don't even have my first one and I am configuring the next one. Whatever issues you have, I have them with an exponent on the end.
I'm on my first MINI since, well, my first MINI (the '67 Mini doesn't count. I was young, stupid, and beat the bejeebers out of it -and didn't realize what I had). Why would I consider buying another one? I'm gonna be buried in this one (kind of a pharohish thing). We're real close, me and my car.
Got my MINI PW MCS in November 2007
my next would be a Suzuki GSX-600 or GSX-750
further down the line...135i (while keeping my MCS and bike of course)
but with what they say about gas prices constantly going up, and running low on oil, i think the bike would be the best bang for buck...

-we shall see where things are in a year.....still worship my Mini though!
I love my Mini to bits. But some day I will eventually want to get an 05 or 06 Cooper S. Just so I can mod it up to the point where I can beat those irritating japanese imports around here
I don't plan on getting rid of my Daisy. I'll eventually retire her, let her sit comfortably in my garage and take her out for a nice sunday drive every so often.

Right now, I would absolutely buy another MINI ...I'd look for a low mileage '06 outfitted just like mine, but with no sunroof and I'd be open to a color change ...there are so many great colors.
Years from now, I don't know. Maybe if they make a hybrid that gets 50+ MPG, performs like and MCS and looks like an R53 inside and out.
Dean.

-yup,but since they have no real plans to release that version here, last I heard(overpriced anyway prolly)-build oneself....youify...but yes somethin like that
I'm on my second MINI, too. I had an '03 (which is still in my driveway as my daughter now drives it) and an '07. Both Coopers. The question I have is will I get a third. So far I see nothing out there that offers the economy, practicality, and superb drivability that MINIs offer. You'd think someone else would figure that out. In any case, at this point I have no interest in anything else, but who knows what the future holds, especially with energy/emmissions taking more of a center stage. If MINI stays a leader in this regard, yes, I'll get another. Folks criticize the interior and exterior quirks of a MINI, but coupled with the great handling, the car is just a sheer delight to interface with in every way, and I've looked forward to driving any and everywhere over the past 5+ years. That is very special!!
