Why so adamant of the R56? May be when you see it in person and drive it, that may change your mind...

Never say "never".

Without hesitation I would buy another.

I don't enjoy driving any other vehicle as much as I enjoy driving the MINI. And it terms of mechanical failure, I've had none (my recent cracked oilpan caused by road debris could have happened to any vehicle).

I did. I owned an 2002 Cooper S, and then I just bought a 2005 Cooper S. I missed owning a Mini and all the fun it brings to my life.

They are fun! What else do you want in a car?

Without a doubt I will be buying one when the current one is worn out.

Easily the most fun car I have had as a daily driver.

I am actually considering selling the MR2 and getting an MCSC !

Wow. 3 pages of posts and i am the first 'no'.

I look at cars in dog years. Sorta. I do soo much driving and spend so much time on the road, 1 year for me, is like 3-4 to someone else. (60K Kms a year or more).

Ive owned my CooperS for 1.5 years, and done about 4 years of driving.

Dont get me wrong. I love my CooperS. And will continue modding, enjoying, and just plain drivin the **** outta the little bugger until the financing is done. (3.5 years). At which point i will sell it for what ever i can get for it, and move on to something else. (likely back to VW/Audi).

After 5 years of ownership, fully paid financing, I will be sitting at 400K kms or more. I think it would be safe to say I will be ready for something different.

My short list is a lightly used VW GTI 20th anniversary, MKV GTI, Audi A3, Audi TT.. or something else by that time.

I have an '03 MC and just got a new '06 MCS. My first car was a '59 Morris Mini Minor...learned to drive stick on it and it went thru high school and midway thru college with me. When I sold it, I KNEW I'd get another, someday...and viola! A MINI will ALWAYS be MY car...I'm just not interested in driving anything else.

Probably Not. We keep our Cars for at least 6 years. Our 2003 MC has been
a Great Car & we love it. We have only had to go to the Dealer 3 Times since we took delivery. 2 free Oil Changes & once for the Service Engine Light coming on. This was my own fault because i overfilled the Fuel. Our Warranty is up on 02/27/07. I will now take the Mini to a Local Garage that only Services BMW,S & MINI,s. If they ever open a Mini Dealer here in NH we would puchase another Mini. Many Mini Owners travel 100,s of Miles to their
Dealers for Routine & Warranty Service. Our Dealer is "ONLY" 100 + Miles round trip but we no longer want to have to deal with that if something serious goes wrong.

I am torn by this question.

When I saw the R50/53 at an auto show in '02, I was smitten. I finally purchased mine in '05, and I love it.

The R56 does not light my candle the way the (still) current-for-another-coupla-weeks gen car does. I planned on keeping Obie for a long time, even before I saw any pics of the 56. Now that I've seen it, I would have to say that the only way I would even consider it is if I _had_ to get another car. It is a MINI, after all, so I would check it out before looking at anything else.

ABSOLUTLY, Without any doubt, no question about it. I would buy another MINI. Not only that, but I would love to buy an older pre BMW MINI and buy either or both a R55 and R56. I love small cars, and these are cars that are not only look good, but are a blast to drive

I'm not saying they are perfect auto's but if one can live with its quirks, then its a pleasure to own them. Its still the only car after a year of ownership, I still get that new car, can't wait to drive feeling.

H*** YES!!! Love it! I'm so happy I got my MINI. No second thoughts, whatsoever. The car just "feels" right when driving it. But I also love my 06 330i, but that's Wifey's... (Only way I can keep her from "taking" my MINI.... gave her a Bimmer).

7/04, I had an Infiniti FX 35.(Great SUV btw) We got an 04 MCS 40 for the quasi-spousal unit. She/we loved it. 7/05, I traded my FX 35 for an 05 PW/B MCS. Loved that so much, 8/06, traded the 05 for my 06 CR/B MCS/JCW. Would I buy another? Well, yah! ......ya think?

Definitely!

I would definitely buy another MINI. As of yet, I'm not quite as jazzed about the R56 as I was the current generation of MINI's, but that's only because I'm not as excited about the central speedo as in the current version. I would like a shot at a Turbo MCS someday however. I guess that's about 2.5 years away. Like a few others here, I'm working the configurator until then.
In the meantime, I absolutely LOVE my MC! It's a blast to drive and after 6 months of driving/paying for it, the fact that I'm still in LOVE with it is amazing. Usually by this time I am at least lusting after something else.
I'm counting on driving this car for 3 years. Then I'll sell it with still 1 year of full warranty left on it and buy my new MINI!

POWER to the MINI's!!!

I'm with Xiek. I bought an early 02 new to hold on to as long as I can, hopefully hand it off to my heirs. Makes me begin to wonder how many 02's we've lost over the years.

I'd get a second if mine got totalled or I get enough cash to take another Mk1 and mod it for the track. Of course if I had that kind of cash I'd also have a Classic, a 911RSA, a 2002, and an Alfa GTV in addition to the Flea. I'm not sure about the R56 yet--want to see and drive one before deciding.

Well I'm just about to head the other way, trading the MC for an 06 WRX. Only because it snows too much at my new place of work and the MC got stuck (really, really stuck, can't even tow it out with a 4X4) in the deep snow.

I would buy another MINI in a heart beat, when I've got the money and space there will be no question about it

Of course. First I'm a full fledged life long car nut, and I have never been so passionate about any other car I have owned. My only thing is that I have a little rule about never buying the same car twice. There are so many different brands & models out there and I want to sample as many as possible. If I was buying a new car now I would probably go for a Lotus Elise, Saturn Sky Redline, or BMW Z4 Coupe.
