rear window

I'd make it so the rear window could roll down - even just 2" would be great! The only thing I miss about my truck.
I'd put more storage nooks and cranny's inside, where do you guy's store your sunglasses?

  • Put the clock back where it was - on the head liner! -OR-
  • Since we now have these oversized rearview mirrors, put the clock in the rearview mirror (where some put a compass).
  • Enhance the Reverse lock-out on the MCS.
  • The new extra sun visor on the driver side could use a slide-out that extends further back the long window - where my eyes are.
I agree with some of the other things already mentioned, but don't feel the need to repeat them.

Not the REAR rear window surely?? Think of the dirt that would be sucked into the interior.

Sunglasses? Check inside your glovebox for the designated parking spot for them in the door.

I'd like the convenience opening feature to "finish the job" without me holding the button. Since the range on the tx is fairly short (without the human antenna option), I'm usually standing there waiting for the opening sequence to complete.

Better noise reduction when the sunroof's open.

upgrade the glovebox. stuff spills out when you open it and it's very plasticky.

put in some "secret compartments" for sneaky stuff

put a fake brake pedal on the passenger side so they'll stop wearing out my floor mats.

telescoping steering wheel and/or adjustable pedals -- it is just too hard to get the seat adjusted right

ditto on the telescoping steering column, even as an $$$ option.

When you say "rear" do you mean the back windscreen, or the rear seat side windows? Assuming you mean the rear side, I think it may be more feasible if the window would "pop" open. Think of the rear side windows on a minivan or BMW 330Ci. The window is hinged on one edge (front vertical by the B-pillar) and can open an inch or two on the opposite edge (rear by the C-pillar). They could be either manual or powered. The way the the C-pillar seems to have changed on the new '07 models, it might just be possible.

If you mean the rear windscreen, well, I'm not sure this would be a great idea what with all that swirling air and dust but, for sake of discussion, a similar principle could be used with the hinge at the top and the opening at the bottom.

Get back to me.
Thanks for the tip! You were right, it works! I definitely feel stupid not having figured that out by now. D'oh! You can take that one off of my list now.

I'd make it smaller (and lower).

I just picked up a BMW service replacement car for my MCS and I gotta say auto-up windows aren't a luxury, they're a neccessity. If MINI doesn't have it and BMW does, it can't be a function of trying to protect us from ourselves, it's prolly just an oversight. Anyone know if auto-up is selectable through User-Defined options? Love push-button start too, but it shouldn't be neccessary to insert the key case, proximity should be enough. After all this IS the 21st. century and since they never came through on the flying cars, I demand a keyless push-button starter.

It's not an available option to us. But you can purchase an after market auto up module

If you're looking for storage space you bought the wrong car. It's already spelled out for you. You bought a MINI.

Oh, My glasses go in the glasses notch in the door of the glove box.

1. A window "frame" on the two front side windows, to give me (and my passengers) something more substantial to close the door by than the glass. Plus I think it'd cut down on squeak and rattle (which is slight but noticeable).

2. I'd add heated seats (you don't get to pick your options on used cars, and that's the only one I don't have that I miss). No idea what it'd cost to add, but I bet it's not cheap.

3. Full iPod support. If I'd known that I'd only get access to 5 fixed playlists, I'd never have gone to the trouble of adding the option - and a pain it was to put in.

4. Larger numerals on the OBC (I have the chrono pack, so the tach and the speedo are on the steering column) and especially larger numbers on the clock. Or an alternate clock location. Also a larger "hood" on the frame of the tach so that side-light doesn't completely glare out the OBC display.

5. Two sliding shades for the sunroof - the present one and a second, higher opacity, one.

I agree with the 0-5 mph lag. Especially with the A.C. on. Feels like an old Buick.

Ditto the MP3 tags.

I wish everything didn't "reset" when the engine is off. If I've got "random" set on the Ipod, it should stay there.

I wouldn't get the factory SatNav. The maps, even with the update, are out of date (our entire neighborhood is missing! ). Guess that's not MINI's fault, it's Navteq's, but still...

One thing I did change is the clatter in neutral with the clutch out. Took it to the dealer, in 24 hours I had a new clutch, flywheel and clutch plate and no clatter (Thanks again, M.G.)

The speed-sensing wipers. Give me a break. First off, they don't vary enough to be even remotely accurate, and besides, the intensity of the rain varies as well. Hell-o! Give me back the control thank you very much. I hope those of you with rain-sensing wipers have better luck.

Overall, that's a pretty petty list. You wouldn't want to see the list on most of the other cars I've owned.

Now the list of things I really like about the MINI, that's a lonnng list!

Funny how perception can vary wildly from one owner to the next. I am very impressed with the rain sensing wipers and find that they're spot on when it come to keeping the w/shield clean and dry, but never get to the point of chattering /squeaking on a dry w/shield.

Oh no, this is a perfect car! (and I didn't buy it, I inherited it, my dad was a smart man!)
I'm wondering, though if he took a liner out of the glove box - there is a hole in there that looks like glasses could fit in there, but it's just metal with no liner or anything.

I agree - the rain-sensing wipers work well. But he seems to be talking about *speed*-sensitive wipers, which I guess is how it was done in the older cars?

I was just poking to make fun. Here is a link to outmotoring and the glove box shelf and it's a good pic of the glove box with the sunglass pocket in use. The interior of the glove box should be felt lined and the door is just plastic. Hmmmm, metal huh? you got me on that one.

I wasn't aware that there was a previous incarnation of the auto wipers. I can see how speed sensitive wipers could be out of whack with the rainfall, but the rain sensitive are flawless.

If you want proximity based keyless entry, all you have to do is order "Comfort Access" and you'll have it! And YES, it will be an option on the new MINI when it comes out.

Rawhyde

PS Hard to believe....one of the coolest options BMW offers, and it's not advertised....amazing

Just looked into that at my dealer. Comfort access can be retrofitted to '06 MINIs for the low, low price of about $500 Canadian plus taxes and install. I think I'll keep using that key for a while yet.

I'd like a compass and an analog clock. On my 2 week old MCC the dead pedal is too far away to be useful and the armrest is too low and too far back for me and I'm 5'8". Love the ride compared to my 99 Miata but I do notice at highway speeds it's a lot windier in the cabin than the Miata.
