General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
... but after a couple of returned waves, he's hooked and now looks for MINIs everywhere to wave at.
So far, I've gotten returns about 12 out of 15 times (in 2 months)! Upstate NY is a pretty friendly place, and there aren't too many MINIs to dilute the effect.
Somedays they wave and somedays they don't. I always do, figure they don't know me anyway, so why not. I got one from our very own NAM member, MNEEME, got a new MINI, looks real fine. So keep waving!
While driving around our beach front area, it's a well known local crusing site, I've only rec'd two waves back from Mini drivers. One lady driver with her hubby in the passagener side even turned into a hotel parking lot in front of us and tried to do it without waving. Oh no, I wasn't letting that happen. DH was driving and I reached over and hit the horn many times. Scared the mess out of her co piloting hubby, but I finally got a wave.
I wave. I don't care if they wave back or not. Well obviously I CARE, because I'm happy when my wave is returned, but I do it regardless of the fact that I get a return wave maybe half of the time.
for me, waving died after the first few months. too many mini's around here. We aren't that special. I was never really down for it anyways. Yes we have the same car. Cool. I give a courtesy wave back to those who wave to me, but I am not out looking for 'em...
I wave when I see the other MINI....although as of late I have been waving through the drivers window instead of rolling it down....but now that the weather is cooling down I am going to start rolling the window down and waving like a fool again.
Just keep waving, folks.... no matter what... its about good will... Heck.. I'm so bad that I keep waving (while in the MINI) at folks in MG's, S2K's, and 350z's -- just because I was passionate about them -- and the folks who shared my interest -- when they were my "drivers" -- Last week -- while in Alaska on vacation -- I waved at 3 MINI's -- while in my toyota rental car -- and got waves back from all three! ....
I wave to all the MINIs I see. The R53 MINIs all wave back for the most part (still a stick in the mud or two), but I have yet to get a return wave from the two new MINIs I have seen.
You know, I agree. The 53 drivers always throw you a wave. And honestly, the more features or aftermarket parts the car has, the more likely they are to wave. When I as working with Hondas, you were lucky to even get a finger from another Honda driver. BUT when I had my jeep, every one... wrangler, cherokee, etc... waved. I loved that about driving that thing, it was one of the few things I liked aout it. So my advice is to just wave. Sometimes they look at you like WTF, but then they get it, and maybe they'll wave to the next one they see.
Over in AUS i wave all the time. The people who usually wave back are the MCS owners... I guess they may have bought their car for more of a possionate reason!?
