I am 19 now, when my Mini gets here in March I will be 20, so it's kind of a birthday present. But my husband and I are going to be making the payments together. Right now we are stationed in Hawaii. I can't wait to get my MCS, Im not patient at all!

I'm 19 and on my fourth car. First I got the Tacoma, then a lifted Jeep Wrangler 4x4, then the Prius (hey, gas savings were $4k compared to Jeep!) then the MINI. Parents bought the tacoma first right before I got my permit (around 8 or 9k) then from there I had my little business going of buying and selling stuff on ebay, this allowed me to purchase my Jeep that I had wanted. Gas got too high here ($4.60) so then I bought the prius. Drove that thing for 2 years and worked my way up to my mini that I have now, I've always wanted one and it's safe to say that she'll be sticking around for a long time. It's an 05 in perfect condition and only 36k on the clock. I worked hard for it and saved my money while my friends were out blowing their cash and driving the BMWs that daddy and mommy bought along with paid for private college schooling. Insane to me.....but I have learned that when you pay for your own stuff (or some of it at least) you take much better care of your things.

Good for you dude, I can vouch for the prissy spoiled brats driving the cars their parents paid for them along with their overrated, out of state college tuition, my town is full of them. My first car was a twice totaled (with airbag deployment each time might I add...) '01 civic coupe that my dad bought wrecked after the second time from an insurance auction. He thought (for some reason ) it would be a great first car for me. Although the repairs were eventually completed adequately to make it safe, the "first car flare" on that quickly faded. Drove it for 3 years, while I saved my own money and never looked back at it as I drove off the lot in my 2011 cooper 2 months ago. Point is, as you stated, you'll value everything much more if you achieve it yourself so enjoy the car!

You too man, great feeling ain't it? Sure my friends may have a lot more spending money to throw around, but they didn't work for it and have no value for money. We win in the end hahah

Agreed, I have always worked for everything. I sacrificed my 06 Mini S to really get my business going (i had a really good real first job to afford the 06) I now have an 11 Clubman s that was delivered on christmas eve. Everyone can tell if you worked for it rather then mommy and daddy giving it to you.

You seem to have a deeper connection with the car and tend to baby it and enjoying it in the process. My friends in HS always tolled my im **** about my car when they were out partying i would be tinkering with it or getting that scratch or tar off my paint.

Of course i had a blast with it, all my friends called me a homo for buying that and not a 350z i was looking at, of course that all stoped once they had there first ride and hitting an off/on ramp at 60

Chicks dig the car so thats a plus

I'm 17, Gidget ('03 R53) is my dad's car that I get the privilege of driving. Every mod is approved by him before its bought by me. When I go off to college, I have every intention of buying my own or buying Gidget from my dad (if I could get so lucky). If I do buy my own, it will most likely be a first gen. There is just something I love about them that I don't seem to get sitting in a second gen. But to each his own. I love being part of the MINI community.

Ditto. The 1st gen just gives you a nice thrill when you drive it.

Young....

I'm 48 going on 12, Does that count???? lol
Here in Utah, it seems, not many younger people like the Mini.
They think they (NEED) a Subaru or Mitsubishi.....
The gal at my credit union tried to buy the same L/Y MCS that I bought, She found a nice Justa in blue. She's 21.

WOW. Sounds like someone's dad is getting a good deal. He's "allowing" you to mod his car with your money.

Im 20, I bought my mcs in august. And I love it to death! Ive had about 10 or so cars in my life. All bought by me, needless to say i wasted alot of money :( But I landed a really good job in june, so I figured it was time for a car I would keep! Although sometimes I do consider trading it in on a r56...
