The distance from the factory lot to the train is not all that far, from the dock to the ship, from ship back to VDC, VDC to crrier, to dealer....if the dealer did not do a test drive.....ya it is possible to have O miles. Don't find it all that unbeliveable really, rare yes, I have had two new cars with O miles.

Yup.. my dealer said they've actually seen some MINIs come in with NEGATIVE miles. My PW/B came in with ZERO miles.

Could be possible for neg miles since the spedo functions in reverse, have not checked for the ODO in reverse yet.

Odometer going in reverse is a set-up for fraud. Hasn't anyone seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off?

I think cars made these days with a digital (rather than mechanical) odometer are highly unlikely to work backwards.

Ok, I'm willing to bet that I'm going to get yelled at by someone or another; but this past weekend I went out motoring with a few of the locals and we found ourself deep into some back country canyon which had about 20 miles of rough dirt road. By the time we were through our cars were a dusty mess. Here's a shot of my tires after the ordeal. They're not as pretty now.

Both of the PWs on this run were filthy filthy, the next time you guys think that YOUR car is dirty, remember this:

The only time that she was dirtier is when we ended up on a muddy back country pass last spring. We really need to be more careful about taking people's route suggestions.

blackie, the numbers serve absolutely no purpose at all
There is a very long thread (yes, even longer than this one) about getting a NAM number, which of course meant every color had to have it's own thread. We PW owners couldn't just have sequential numbers, thus the Peerage was born. It just is!

Japic, you won't hear me yelling about your dirty MINI. As long as you were out motoring (as you should be), you and your MINI had fun and it washes off, I say YAY!

If anything that canyon brought one thought to the front of my mind. This was a firm reminder that Mini Coopers were built as rally cars. In my opinion there's no better way to get back in touch with your roots than to go out on a rustic road and dodge potholes, ruts and the washboard of poorly grated roads.

Hell, even if we did spend all that time getting dirty we all walked away smiling. Believe it or not, us four brave coopers out maneuvered and outpaced a 4wd truck. We're not really sure what he was doing out there, but when we stopped on the far side it took him fifteen minutes to catch back up. Who says "it's a Jeep thing"? MINIs can hold our own.

Motor on peerage peeps

By the bye, the other PW out there with me was Brihyanna, #272. She can vouch for the road.

I hear ya. My PW/B Mini is still on a ship on the way to Cali so I'm still on that nerve wracking waiting stage of buying a Mini. But one of my main goals was to take the MINI out to a few local rallycross events. You prob already know, but it's basically just like an autocross event except you drive in dirt instead. I've only done two events in my Rav4, but it was hella fun. Gonna trade in the old Rav for the MINI coming in. Should be more of a blast now since I'll have less to worry about rollovers.

I have yet to meet the owner of this classic Mini, but he seems to be a frequent rallycrosser..

The First Cut is the Deepest..

Winnie, who was taken home from the dealer a mere 3 weeks ago, has been rear ended. Thankfully, the damage seems slight (some scratches and dents) and no one was hurt, but I'm still tramatized..

I already took her to be appraised and they say I'll probably need a new bumper.

That sucks! Well you can maybe upgrade to a JCW rear bumper?

Gasp! How horrid. I hope the person who rear ended you was very ashamed. And apologetic.

Please accept my sincere sympathy. I almost couldn't stand the very first window chip, so I know exactly how you're feeling.

I guess the silver (or PW?) lining in the cloud is that the blemish is relatively superficial and confined, so with minimal invasive surgery Winnie will be as good as new in short order. Please share with us when that happens!

First; sorry to hear of your misfortune Madcaps. I've seen two MINIs involved in accidents in the past couple months and I've felt bad each time. I'm glad it's not my baby, but feeling sorry for the people who do own the cars. Best of luck getting her patched up.

Also, welcome to all the new peerage peeps!

Can I elbow in ?

OK - I'm new to the PW crowd.

Although - We do have the order in - PW MC, Sunroof, sport seats, sport wheel, chrome line, 16", cold weather, fog lights. Basic, but functional.

So -if it's at all possible to hijack #1958, I would love to jump in. If I can't have the car for weeks, at least I can co-miserate with the Peerage of the Pepper White ...

Peace !

Commiserate?? Spearsy, in this Peerage we cohabitate, co-educate, cooperate, coordinate, co-star, and co-celebrate!! Keep your chin up, the time will pass quickly and soon you'll be motoring in style!

Welcome to the most prestigious of color combos, or at least in your case, its forthcoming arrival...I'm certain Annette will be along shortly to formalize your membership!
