No one wants to see my MCS right now... she's too dirty. She may qualify as more of a brown than a pepper white. I live in Colorado and tonight we're due for our fourth major snowstorm/blizzard within a month. I think I'll get her washed today, if only so that it's not another layer of filth. Not that I expect her to be clean beyond this afternoon... :(

 

91Eunos, I hope you like the look with the dark wheels . I bought some R99's (dbl seven spokes) in anthracite and changed them for the S-Lites that came from the factory, and honestly I was a little disappointed. On the MiniUSA site, they looked pretty cool, but on the car, I really think I like the lighter colored wheels! Not sure what to do about it. I guess I could watch out for curbs until the run-flats wear out and then change back to the silver wheels, and sell the others. They are pretty wheels, but maybe on a dark car instead of white. I have a green top cabrio, so nothing to coordinate with. Just my thoughts. I was in Frankfurt and Darmstadt for three years, decades ago. Are you military? Enjoy the ride!!!

 

I can't speak for 91Eunos but I have had black wheels on my car for the year I've owned it and thought she looked really sharp. Here's the 17s I'm currently using:



Unfortunately I've managed to bend 3/4 of my rims over the past few months and they're being replaced tonight.

Personally I love the dark wheels, I feel that it gives good contrast to the light colored body and blends in with the lower trim.

My racing partner says teh same thing...he's got a thing for bronze wheels and I like the black ones... I had a set of bronze TE-37s on my Miata but sold 'em and replaced them w/ anthracite SSR Comps...have 2 sets of those in 15 x 7" for the Miata and now a set in 16 x 6.5" for stock-class auto-X w/ the MINI. I'll get another set of the new black SSRs--also in 16 x 6.5" -- for the Mini to use for the street. WIll use the anthracite for the track...

He's already got a line on yet another set of bronze TE-37s for the MINI from another friend of ours so he can slap them on when he takes possession of this car in ~ 2 years!

I guess like everything else about our cars, wheel design and color is very subjective...to each his own... Black wheels on a b&w car works for me though!

oh and about the black rims. i used to not like them until i bought some with a polished lip. that really made them stand out and i love the look.
