Unless your state has something saying 'must be issued by us', it should fly. Usually the rules say things more along the lines of 'cannot cover the plate' and 'state & county must be visible'... etc...
Again, depends on your state, but the replicas are pretty close, if not the same.

I guess I don't really belong in this thread but I want to comment anyway. They didn't have jet black for 2006 but one of my top choices for colors was astro black. Yes I think I ended up not getting it because it wasn't reallly realllly black. Another reason is that I wanted bonnet stripes ... I drooled over many pictures of a black mini with white stripes but when a friend saw it and made a comment that it was like a skunk ... well, that ruined it for me. Every time I would think ... skunk? Haha no offense to all you JB out here. My favorite favorite is the pure black with chrome outlines, EXTREMELy classy. Beautiful.

Here's Obie (click on thumbnail). He's an '05 jet black Cooper with Premium and Sport packages. I have since added chrome side grills, white repeater lenses, and a K&N 57i intake. I am investigating a number of other mods.
