0w-20 or 5w-30 oil-Which is better for HOT Fla. weather
General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
I would probably run the 5w-40 that meets the Euro BMW spec, and change it every 5000 miles. I ran my tuned turbo Clubman on that spec, changed the oil every 5000 miles, filter every 10k miles, and the engine ran above 200k miles when I sold it. As far as I know, its still on the road.
5w-30 or 40 is fine down here, I’m in Fort Myers, just make sure Euro spec, I’m a LiquiMoly snob 😁. I even swapped the wife’s Tiguan from 0w-20 to 5w-30. As Nik suggested, no more than 5k on the oil, my R53 is every 2500 but she’s tuned and I drive her like I stole it, not going to sugar coat it, and our tiggy is every 5k, she doesn’t get abused and mainly just sits in the garage.
