Putting Code in 2013 Mini Paceman JCW

Hello! I need to install a new battery in this Mini, and I would like to know what scanner to use, or if there is a good program to use to put in the battery code. Never done this before, and the car is dead, so I can't take it to a shop.

Thank you in advance,

Jim

Double check that your car has the battery sensor on the ground strap. If no sensor, you won’t need to register the battery. If you have the sensor, it will need coding.

For scan tool, might be a good idea to invest in a decent one if you plan on keeping the car for a while. I would go with one of these:

This does have the sensor on it. So how would I go about putting in the code? Does the scanner pull that up?

That scanner would have the ability to register the battery

Scanner is ordered (the one you listed above). Looking at this for a battery:

Is it worth the extra to get an AGM?

Also, driver's door lock quit working after I started having trouble with the battery. Hopefully, new battery will fix the problem.

Picked up a battery, a Die Hard gold flooded battery, 730 CCA, same as old one. Got the battery in and registered, got it running, but am still getting a battery warning signal. Going to take it out for a drive today, and see if I can get this tested. Does this sound like an alternator issue? Car still starts fine, but worried that if I push it too far it might quit again.

I've seen some videos on removing the alternator, and it does not look like fun. Can it be taken out from the top?

Took it for a drive this afternoon. Went to closest Oreilly's for a check on the charging system, came back voltage regulator...ugh..will have to pull that. Didn't get out of town before it died, had to have it jumped twice. Had the store give the battery a full charge and made it home...thankfully. Going to have to make some room in the building to work on it. Will get it up in the air and see if I can work on it from underneath first...not looking forward to this.
