Mini engine comparability

I have a freshly rebuilt 1.6 non S out of a 2004. I have found a 2007 non S with a blown engine. Will I be able to swap the 2004 engine into the 2007?

Well, of course!

Will it be easy?

www.realoem.com will tell you if it's bolt in.

Unless the 2007 is a convertible they are two different generations and two completely different engines. If it is an R52 convertible you should be able to put your rebuilt motor into it. I don't know enough about the early vs late gen 1s to know if the compatibility of the computer in one vs the other.

I browsed RealOEM for you- UNLESS the 2007's a cabrio, RJ's right- not easily at all.
I suppose you could swap the engine and the entire electrical 'network' out of a 2004, but
at that point, it's going to be more work than it's worth.

Just stuff a 4BT into the 2007 and live the Cummins lifestyle.

That's about what I'm ready to do with the 2009 JCW we've got...
