R50 Power steering delayed on startup?

Here's a new one for me:
2004 R50 97k No power steering on startup, needs about 30-60 seconds before power steering returns, then functions normally until next shutoff. No codes, no lights. Power steering reservoir is full, and I've moved the wheels lock-to-lock several times to purge air from the system.

Not likely related: I recently replaced the alternator, which had failed and symptoms were alternator light and no power steering at startup. Alternator replaced with new (not reman). Currently (ha!) The battery at rest is 12.68v, dips only to 11.5 during starter crank, then system voltage of 13.87 while running, so it appears the battery and new alternator are is still working fine.

Has anyone had a similar experience? The power steering pump/fan has been replaced under dealer warranty years ago.

Thanks.

I'd guess that the power steering pump is dying. Mine did a long while back, it would stay on for a while, they turn off, then back on then after a few months of that died completely. It was replaced under the factory recall but I drove around for several months with no PS and other than parking, it was no trouble.
