Diagnose

I have an opportunity to buy an 03 Mini Cooper S, it runs there is a slight miss in cylinder one. I'm getting it very cheap, any good guesses on what it could be?

I'll play.

It could be a loose spark plug wire.

It could be a cracked cylinder wall. Or anything in between. Buying it cheap without knowing what's wrong - hope for the best but have the money for a worst case scenario.

Get some tools and do some shady tree diagnosis with the car before you buy it?

Because the internet is definitely going to provide you with a clear and concise diagnosis...

There could be tons of reasons and to ask that vague of a question will illicit tons of vague responses. The best thing to do is to take it to someone who knows these cars and have them put it on a computer to see what codes there may be, or buy yourself a scanner made for these cars, (Schwaben) to test yourself. There's a reason it's selling cheaply and I would make sure what is causing that cylinder to misfire before I take the plunge. Good Luck..
