I received 09 mini in a deal guy thinks it a bad motor. So my question is will the 2007 engine work in a 09?? Thanks guys for the help

 

N14 engines are the same. Same goes for N12 engines. Before installation, consider the timing chain, gaskets, water pump, and thermostat.

 

So what's a n 14 and n12 mean

N14 is the turbo version engine. They are fitted on 2007 to 2010 hartops.
N12 is the base engine without turbo. Also fitted on 2007 to 2010 models.

Since you didn't specify what type of engine you had, i pointed to both of them.

So you have N12 engine. That's fitted on 2007 to 2010 Hardtop, clubman or convertibles after 2008 to 2010.
