Short answer, no. Mini doesn’t seem to be as much of a niche brand, and the general public doesn’t wave.

That doesn't count

Kidding aside, I never waved and then I saw this thread and it's got me doing it more often. I'll admit, I'm more inclined to wave at the older model MINI's because I think of the niche mindset they're more likely to have. (even though mine is a 2019). The only enthusiastic wave I didn't initiate was from a great looking, red, first gen with lots of personal touches. We were both the same color so that was cool.

I was pretty stoked today whilst driving on Jekyll Island Georgia. This morning, we passed a white Mini, and she was waving as enthusiastically to us as we were to her.

I waved to MINIs at the PVGP and they waved back. And it was 102 degrees hot, super hot.

My fiance has a Jeep Wrangler and she/I gets a wave everytime we pass another Wrangler, and they're pretty much every other car in my neck of the woods. I barely see any other 1st gens, and the only person who has waved at me was a guy in a r56 on the highway. Most of the MINI's are the larger 4 doors and convertibles, so maybe there aren't as many enthusiasts? Or maybe they don't even know that they're supposed to wave? Does that happen to other OG's or is that just me in my area?
I wave at other Coopers.
I don't wave at Clubmans.

You can't see me wave through my tinted windows, but I do wave when I see one in time. I see more Minis when I'm in my Suburban than when I'm driving my Mini.

I do, but my return is probably only 10% and those are the ones that have waved in the past. There are actually a fair number of MINI's here in Traverse City, MI despite being about 200 miles away from a dealership.

Love this thread, glad to see there are plenty of us wavers out there, although if you're on NAM you're most likely also an enthusiast.. I even get the urge to wave at MINIs when driving my F150.. I've cut down to mainly just waving at earlier models in my R53 as newer model drivers don't seem to waive too much.

I did just have a F56 loaner for 2 days, waived at all MINIs with nothing in return... man the tech in that thing was nice!

I think for the most part it comes down to folks who mod and motor, and the occasional neighbor who just thinks you're being friendly. But, we're all part of the club, say hey!

Hi, just joined and picked up a used 08 Cooper S on Saturday. I asked the previous owner about waving. I also own a couple of Jeeps an 86 CJ7 and 11 Wrangler. In the Jeep world pretty much everyone waves though not a given and seems to depend a bit on the type of Wrangler being driven. I also own a 10 smart Fortwo and it sounds like waves between smart owners are about as sparse as what I'm seeing here.

The fellow I picked up my Mini from said that not many people wave though he mentioned that it was mandatory that I park next to another mini in the parking lot if the spot was open. Works for me......

Since I'm already used to waving at folks might as see how it goes with the Mini.
