Potential owner question. 09jcw vs 11mcs

Hey guys quick question. Would you take a mystic blue 09 jcw with Xenons and HK with 80k and no auto climate or a minty all black 2011 mcs with premium, sport and cold weather and 30k miles. The MCS has a nice aftermarket exhaust and tint.

The JCW does have the original wheels and red calipers and is about 1-2k less. Ones is a dealer the other is private party

The MCS is a Miami car, never seen a winter and has been stored most of its life.

I don’t know if I go for the lci and n18. Or the jcw N14’s and “older” interior.

Thanks for for any input.

2011 MCS.
The n18 and the 30k trump* the other advantages of the JCW.
BTW, I have a 2009 R55 JCW with 33k and am loving it.

*not to be confused with the other word with the capital T - whole other meaning

Thanks! I was leanijg towards the 11 MCS, it has the black wheels to match the all black look which I like. The JCW did just have the timing kit done if that makes any difference and I love the look of the brembo’s.

I’ve had a couple gti’s (20th and a mk6) and currently drive an S3, but I miss the third pedal and most of my driving is a 65 mile commute to work and the S3, even though it’s a four banger gets meh mpgs. I also don’t use more than probably 50% of the S3’s potential anyway. Hoping the to simplify a little but still have a little fun without the car payment I have now. When I drove the mini it reminded me a lot of the 20th anniversary gti I had. Lol.

No Question

‘11 MCS. You did not say which was at the dealer, either way, negotiate and enjoy the car!

Cheers!

Oh yeah sorry!

The 09 jcw is at a dealer. 78k miles. It recently had brakes, timing kit, main seal, and thermostat done. They are asking 10k, but it only has the xenons and cold weather package. Not even steering wheel controls but does have the badging on the front grill and rear hatch for jcw and vin checks out.

The 11 MCS is private party. 29k miles. Has professional tint and a cat back that looks brand new but didn’t see the brand. The owner said it was on it when he got the car from Miami. It was under a “mini” car cover in a stall next to another mini convertible and a brand new Tesla. It has the premium package, sport package and cold weather package. It needs tires suitable for MN though after a quick test drive. The guy is in no hurry to sell by the looks of things. All major parts are most likely original. He’s asking 12k

Sadly neither one has mini connect, but that’s probably just something that could go sour and I’d have to pay to fix anyway.

For a daily driver and a long commute, I'd go for the newer, lower miles car. Given you're in MN, the cold weather package is likely to come in handy.

Since you mentioned winter tires... We moved to WI over the summer. In November, I put a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3s on my car and am really pleased with them so far. Put Blizzaks on my son's Impreza and they've been solid as well.

Unless you really want a JCW for some reason I'd say the $2k price difference to get the newer lower mileage car is totally worth it.

I would pick the MCS for the lower mileage and it is also newer.

Looks like it’s unanimous. Was that what you expected? Have you reached a decision?

cheers!
