How long do you plan to keep your MINI?

Hello all Mini Owners!!!

Just wondering, how long do you plan to drive/keep your Mini Cooper? Forever? Run it to the ground or trade it in after a few years? Etc..

I'll be 75 in 7 years and guess I 'might' go all out in automatics then, so I'll consider selling my stick then .. I'll restate that .. 'consider selling it'.

My good car buddy calls his 'The puppy I never had'. I had puppies so I'm still looking for a simile. Puppies turn to dogs and you don't get rid of a good dog.

I'll be selling my wife's 2012 MCS this year. Considering it was made and sold in 2011, guess that's about 7 years. Currently has about 60k miles. Car has been somewhat reliable, but we're moving on to something much more reliable. It was fun while it lasted..

I like my MINIs. If I drove a lot more than I do I'd probably have another car for long highway drives as the MINIs are awful noisy beasts on the highways around these parts. After an hour of cruising I want my 540I back.

What's up with the spam signature line?

Probably pass it on to a child or grandchild.

I love the car- how it looks and drives, but I dont trust it long term. I have had my share of problems with it, and as much as I would love to always have it around, I am afraid of how much it will cost to keep it.

I still have my first car, a 1952 MG TD. Heck, I still have all the cars that I didn't total, so I'll be keeping my MINI for a long long time.

I love mine, and will keep him as long as I can afford to, up to and including engine replacement at some hopefully very far-off future date.

This is hitting some sore regrets. The MG TD put me in mind of my 1st, a '62 TR Spitfire. Learned solo and rally skills. Traded it for a '63 4.2 E type roadster. Would that those were still waiting outside for another adventure. Regret being the operative word.

I'm coming up on the 14th anniversary with my R53 (137,000 miles) and don't plan on getting rid of it.

Around 2010 I had an itch to try something else, like a Miata or even a Cobalt SS (remember those?). Instead, I sent Way Motor Works a bunch of money and got a pulley and a new suspension. Since then, only reviews of the Fiesta ST have come close to making me consider a new car.

Between not liking how new Minis feel, the rise of complicated infotainment systems, and driving only 5,000 miles a year now, I don't see myself getting rid of the Mini willingly. My mom drove a VW Thing for a couple decades and now I'm following in her footsteps with my Mini: Keep it maintained and keep on driving it as long as I can.

There are many who can claim such accolades.

2016 JCW S. At 75 years old/young, and averaging around 2500 miles a year, this is my last car. When I'm 87, will have my dealer go over everything including wires, belts, et al and then take a road trip to the east coast with my wife and give it to my grandson when he turns 16. Or, it might be better to buy a Honda or Toyota or Subie when he''s 14, break it in properly and give him something newer.

48k miles in 5 years. We hope to keep it for a very very long time, if not ever, but at this rate I don't know it will last the long run... so far not too much to complain about reliability, though I worry about rust, I may need to do some rust preventive action before the winter.

Hopefully, it lasts you forever!! I guess I'm lucky that I don't have to worry about rust too much in SoCal

I hope to keep my 2013 S Coupe...

...as long as possible. I bought it a few months back with just a little over 7500 miles. Years ago, I had test-driven a Coupe shortly after they first came out but wasn't in the position to buy one at that time -- although I never forgot how the car handled. I've owned a few cars in my 40+ years of driving and, hands down, this is my absolute favorite.

2013 JCW with 38k miles. Now that I live in the city I'll probably average 7-9k miles/year. Planning on keeping it several more years until I can afford a used 14-16 Cayman GTS. But it's hard for me to justify selling a car that's been so fun and has ultra low maintenance costs

My first MCS (2008) I kept for 5 years (upsized to a BMW X3).

This 2015 MCS is a CPO which I plan to keep for 4-5 years. Then I will finally get a MCS Vert. Had to get hardtop this time around due to needing larger trunk space.

Miss Susan (my neighbor) put over 150K miles on her 2012 Justa before she was forced to get a new car (2017 F56) when she was rudely totaled by a dear. Her 2007 R52 has over 130K miles. She plans on keeping that one forever.

Me? I'll trade all four of mine in on the NEW GP(3)... if they put it in production..

Motor On!

How Long??

I usually keep my vehicles until the bodies fall down around the frames or the wheels fall off, but if they start turning into "MONEY PITS", that's when I dump them. If they stay dependable, reliable and still fun to drive, I keep them. Mac
