Clearing SOS Code

Hi, Everyone.

So I put in an aftermarket audio system in my F60 and now I'm getting an SOS error since the stock amp isn't hooked up. I never use this feature in my cars anyway so how do I disable the car's computer from wanting to see the SOS system and clear the error?

Let me know,
Joey

You can clear it with the schwaben scan tool, but it might come back up. The Stereo of the newest MINIs dont play too well with the aftermarkets as they are really integrated. My be is that the SOS system is linked and now its cut off.

I would not really do an aftermarket system if its factory and has Harman Kardon upgrade. The system is way too connected. The only thing most guys do now is amps and speakers off the stock headunit.

Ok, it feeds the SOS system through that amp. I have not heard of someone doing a stereo on the F60 yet, just the F56, but it did not have the SOS. My guess is that the SOS system will require that stock amp as it must have feed and tracking line. Might only be able to piggyback off the turn on and power line for the amp and always keep it hooked up. Just not to the speakers. If you call through the SOS and it trys to talk to you might not hear it on the other side.

The best thing might just keep it all working and flip out to better speakers?

That is what I am thinking. Just power up the stock amp, leave it on to keep the SOS system active or "fake" active. I never renew this crap I wish they had the option to turn it off.

Yep, SOS is going to be standard at some point as its MINI/BMW version of OnStar. Lots of BMWs have it.

Yeah so hooking up the stock amp, it works, I can now make SOS calls, but the error is still there.

You will have to have the system clear the error. Either the schwaben scan tool

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-q-and-a.html

or take it to MINI and they can clear it maybe under warranty.
