Liqui Moly oil weight?
Liqui Moly oil weight?
Looking at changing to Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech oil. I see that the 5w30 meets LL-04 requirements while the 5w40 meets LL-01. Which should I use? is the 5w40 too heavy? Thanks
I run 5w40 Liqui Molly. I based my choice of oil weights on 1. Did it meet mfg's spec 2. The temperature & climate 3. Cost vs availability and 4. frequency of changing. 5w/40 is best for me. If I lived in Alaska, I would probably use 0w/30. I change my oil every 3000 to 6000 miles . I buy it on Amazon and it's delivered, always buying a new five gallon jug right after changing the oil. But that's just me...you're mileage may vary...
I am running Liqui Molly : Molygen 5w-40 right now on both my MINIs. Not an issue.

5w-30 works for me. Manual says 5w-30 so that's what i'm using. PErfect for the weather where i am ( pacific northwest ). Liqui moly has been awesome since my R53 days. Nothing compares to it....,not castrol, not royal purple, not mobil 1. u cant go wrong with a German made product.
The number preceding the "W" rates the oil's flow at 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-17.8 degrees Celsius). The second number is the grade of the equivalent single-grade oil that describes its viscosity at 100 °C (212 °F).
If you're running the car hard I would opt for the 40 weight, if you're after fuel economy like the manufacturer is then the 30 weight is the choice.
