Buying a Used MINI

Working on putting some stuff together on buying used MINIs. 2017All4 has a good thread in Gen3 on buying a new MINI and something in the Gen1 and 2 areas should complement nicely. Thoughts would be to bring some of the past comments into play, have a description on the models involved with the associated years (per generation), links to some past press articles on the cars and a discussion on a PPI. If anybody has a copy of a PPI report would like to include it. A PPI report performed by a MINI shop would be even better.

A member asked me to check out a car in my area. I went and drove the car and then sent him a report on what I found. I drove the car in a manner that would check whether the traction control was functioning correctly, it was not. It is this type of issue that would be handy to have in one encompassing thread for a prospective buyer.

Thoughts?????

I was putting a PPI together, and after spent about two hours, I just referred to a standard Tech Inspection Check List and started adding myopic inspections on component parts based on a RAM (Reliability And Maintenance) Data analysis concept. This includes the manufacture's service recommendations (Fluids Flush and Fill, Belt Replacement, Hose Replacement, Bushings and Bearings , etc.) ... Bottom Line... it was just easier to just come to the realization I would pretty much service and replace everything. Not the most economical approach to it but... If you can find a good car, you can space out the time you need to replace all the parts.

Oh, and don't forget to plug into the ECM and read all the Code History and run the VIN on the " https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls#vin " website to check for any unresolved Recalls.

Additionally I give you a Nod for your Forum Name. For those who have not made the connection - Supercharger vs Direct Injection.
