The miles people are getting out of these cars if pretty amazing. What was the failure (if any) before the rebuild? Also, what oil and change intervals did you follow?
Low power was the main reason, low compression too. Turns out the low power (and excess sc whine) was caused by a clogged cat. (Discovered after the rebuild) The main engine parts looked great. Original cylinder finishing marks still there. Took the crank in to get re finished. There was no measurable wear.As for oil changes, I followed the OBC, which usually ended up being around 21,000 miles.See my rebuild thread here https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...uild-time.html
I do, although today was a bit of a nail-biter with ice and people that don't know how to drive and can't bother to scrape the snow off their windows. 90,000 miles.
9/2015 - 30k miles
Been driving other car for the pass few months mostly because work has been short commute. Going to start being 120 miles a day again so back on the road it goes.
coming up on 130k miles
I have a 2012 JCW coupe and its mostly a weekend car. I got it two years ago with 50k miles and I just crossed 60k miles. I keep it parked in the winter with an occasional drive on a dry day.
My dad on the other hand has a 2010 JCW World Champion 50 edition with only 16k miles. So that rarely gets driven and never comes out until it is officially spring.
From Northwest Arkansas area. I've had my '12 MCS (R56) a little over a year. Bought it with 63k miles. Now she is sitting at 78k. I drive mine everywhere. Clutch fork snapped in half. But other than that, it has been really fun motoring around.
2016 Mini S/JCW ... daily driver but close to work. 2 and 1/2 yiears and just turned 3,225 miles. In ten years, it should have about 25,000 miles and will give to my grandson for his first car (provided it is in perfect mechanical condition.
Bought my used 13 MCS with 130,000 miles on the clock. Replaced the timing chain and associated hardware plus replaced the turbo and spark plugs. It's now my daily with over 140K miles while my other car stays parked. Having way too much fun driving this Mini.
I have an '06 R53. I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago. It is my only car, and thus what I drive every day. I live in Central Illinois. I've taken it to Nashville a couple of times, St Louis a few times, and Chicago many times. I think there's 83K on Rupert, Runs like a champ and is still as fun as when I bought it. I feel spoiled, and never want a car without a supercharger after being used to it.
