Dealership fun
I just had a recall done on my Mini that should have taken at the most 2 hours; ended up taking 3.5 hours while I waited.
I might suggest that you have the service advisor explain in writing in all the printed paperwork, what needed to be done and to take time to show you what they had to do to complete the work on your Mini. This gives you time to look over the car while the service advisor is with you.
Make sure that the excuse about the tools are also written into all of the paperwork as to why they took 5 + days to complete this work.
Once this is done I would contact the district rep from Mini and demand to be compensated for the days you did not have your new car and for you having to cancel the prearranged plans with your family. Of course they are going to come back and ask why could you not complete your plans with the loaner car; this part you will have to answer in a creative way.
Best of luck trying to get anything out of Mini USA . . . . . . . . . . . .
Oh, and by the way after doing all of the above, you are now on their S**t List .
The customer never wins with a Mini dealership.

Just to inform the class, I noticed a new rattle in the roof after I picked up the car. Since it was late, I couldn't pop back in to complain so I planned to call later.
This weekend I was doing a top/bottom/inside/outside cleaning and found that the rear sunroof trim is loose (and the rattle is coming from something in that general area).
Looks like 5 days was not enough time to get the job done right.
