Well, duh...

Went to take my wife's 12 MCS AT to the car wash. Push in the fob, hit the start button and the dash lights go crazy, no crank. Dang, first thought is the battery, but is less than a year old. Now I'm thinking about calling AAA and have it towed to the dealer.

Went back in to tell the wife her Mini is dead. Explained it won't crank over. She looks at me and says 'were you pressing the brake pedal when you hit the start button?'. I don't drive her car often, and yup, another senior moment..

Did that last spring when I took the R57 out of storage. Had a battery tender but couldn't get it to start. I was just reaching in and hitting the button. Doh!

We did a test drive on a 10 MC and were about to walk away like "this pos won't even start" and the dealer gave us this look like you dumb ***, "did you push the brake in"?
